Crash Salticoot doesn't disappoint lol, why are you so mad Crash is doing well? It's rather cute in a mad Jigglypuff kind of way.

Keep up with the thread. That was a page ago (edit: 2 pages now).
I get it though, you're slow...

I'm not mad at Crash. Crash is great. Activision sucks for spiking the football without showing me footage of the actual touchdown (i.e. press release without numbers).

How would Activision even know how Crash sold on a worldwide basis, as compared to games from other publishers?

Hey! We're using insults now! I'd suggest you stop, it's not a good look for you.

Incredibly well deserved. It was a fantastic value and one of the best remakes ever made. Here's hoping there's a lot more in store now!

Why do people think this means CTR more than Spyro trilogy? Did they ever mention CTR or something?

Because CTR, along with the ND Crash games, is part of that big nostalgia that helped the N.Sane Trilogy perform amazingly well, I'd add Crash Bash among those too. An expanded CTR remake would be a dream come true.

Because they get data from trackers for every market, as they pay for that data as well as every other publisher

No, sorry, the way you're acting is officially childish at this point.

You purposefully tried to downplay the sales and now you're insulting people who replied to you.

Wow.
So Crash won in a slow month where the only thing it was up against was a new IP on a new system with a small install base compared to the PS4 and a console port of a several years old arcade 1v1 fighting game catering to a niche market?

Yup. This is huge. Huuuuge.
Long live the return of the mascot platfomer guys!

so how many copies did you sell Activision? Be honest...
I agree.
When a superior athelete comes along and wastes the competition that had no business competing and then the superior athelete makes a press release about how superior it is for destroying those other competitors in an exhibition match that doesn't count... Yeah...

Now if this had happened in September. That's a story.

I'm not one of the people saying the game would do poorly...
I'm just not impressed without actual sales numbers when a game wins a month in the middle of summer when games don't typically release.

What am I letting go exactly?
I think the post you quoted was my second comment in a Crash Bandicoot related thread... Ever?

Come on people. I like Crash Bandicoot as much as the next person, but show me some numbers Activision...
Did it surpass 1 million copies?
Find a negative quote from me on Crash Bandicoot before this thread. Go on. I'll wait.

Only reason I don't own the Crash collection is because I'm waiting for it to go on sale...(if you don't count owning the original PS1 copies...)

But by all means, keep inventing a narrative that doesn't exist.
Activision is crowing about it without providing numbers. Just like they did with Destiny.
I have a problem with them boasting about their game without giving me the numbers.
They used to give numbers with Call of Duty....why not any more?

Market data research firms.

"2 Across all console platforms, according to the NPD Group, GfK, GSD and Activision Blizzard internal estimates."

Why do people think this means CTR more than Spyro trilogy? Did they ever mention CTR or something?

They're basically said that CTR would hinge on how well the trilogy did

GC: Crash Team Racing is the one I was going to guess at.

KM: [laughs] Yeah, that’s a popular one.

GC: And I assume you’re not going to answer any of those questions?

KM: [laughs] I can’t, but also these decisions aren’t made by me. So we’ll have to see how this game does first. But I’d love to work on another Crash game, this has been marvellous.

It seems like it's exceeded everyones expectations, so CTR seems obvious now. And that could even be bigger because the PS4 doesn't have any kart racers.

Crash haters BTFO.
The Bandicoot stay winning.

Gotta cop myself a copy sooner or later. Warped was my shit back in the day

That's awesome. I'm glad it did well. Nostalgia done right can work.

Hear that Sega?

Well, they probably have, considering Sonic Mania is most certainly going to be great and it's basically the Sonic 4 everyone's been wanting...

Then again, SEGA themselves aren't actually making it.

I'm eagerly anticipating CTR remake, along with the Spyro Trilogy.

Those games, along with Digimon World on the PS1, took up much of my childhood gaming time.

Not a Crashfan whatsoever, but I'm happy y'all got what y'all wanted and it's kicking ass on the sales floor. Cheers all around 🍻🍻

Judging by the placements in the NPD thread, I'm assuming that this overperformed in Europe? The US numbers are nothing to scoff at at all, but that seems like the implication in order for that comment to be true.

Its debut was bigger than Horizon: Zero Dawn's iirc

Do we have numbers? Remember the placement is Revenue based and Crash was $40.

NPD is a revenue chart and Crash launched at 40 USD.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

The NPD is by revenue and Crash launched at the very end of the month at 20 dollars less than other releases. It would have actually charted higher if it were based on units sold going by info provided in the NPD thread.

He did. He said it would be higher on the list if it was just based on unit sales.

Enough for the top spot, though? I'm not trying to put down the game in any capacity, but it seems obvious to me if that it was number 1 in unit sales, they would just say it was number 1 in unit sales. I don't think that there's a need for them to be any more specific than that.

It's a great success by any metric, and at the very least, it does show that there is a underserved crowd on Playstation platforms that Sony should be paying more attention to than they have been.

The ranking itself isn't as important as the units sold. It can still have great sales without being number 1. Which is the case. It is really good considering it is up against multiplat releases that were out longer.

All the doubters were completely wrong. There was a massive demand for a return of Crash Bandicoot.

some quotes from the past

Or maybe use the money for something new? Because let's be honest, there are probably not that many people who want a new Crash game.

No, let Sony use the money to develop a new IP, not use it on a old IP that doesn't have any brand recognition whatsoever anymore. Let it go folks, Crash isn't what it used to be

Only hardcore gamers, aka GAF, want a new Crash game. As much as i want it to happen, it wont sell and i'm pretty sure both Sony and Activision know that, it's simply too risky. Your best bet would be a remake done by a studio like Sanzaru to see if the demand is there or not.

Why people want Crash back makes me confused.

It's old, it's gameplay is dated and would never survive in 2014.

It would bomb even if it was done on the cheap

I find it hard to believe that people actually want to play a Crash game in 2014. I think they just care about Sony owning the mascot because it feels right.

I agree. I'm just pointing out that it seems like it was an even bigger hit in the Europe than in the US, which I find to be really interesting as I would think that it would be a more even balance between the regions. I guess they really must love Crash just a little bit more over there.

Awesome news.

Seriously what's the deal with people who have a perpetual hard on for telling people who liked 90s 3D platformers that their games suck.

People like these games and characters. Deal with it.

Keep in mind, it was only on sale for 2 days in June.

Amazing result.

Now imagine if Knack does well....the salt level will create a new dead sea

The first one sold around a million worldwide by the end of 2014, right? I think that they're being very smart with launching it at a lower price point, but I don't know if it's got much hope of doing any better than that. The mixed reception the first got is definitely going to have an impact on its sales potential, regardless of how much of an improvement it's looking to be.

Any 3D platformer that wasn't blessed by the god hands of Miyamoto or Koizumi aren't worth it, I suppose. That's what it sometimes feels like here on GAF.

To be fair, as someone that played through a lot of them during the golden age, the batting average for the genre would not be good enough for a tee-ball team. When they hit, they're right out of the park, but a lot of them can barely keep the bat in their hands as it is. We treasure the likes of Mario 64, Crash and Banjo because we know what waits in the abyss.

Yeah, way to go Crash!

LOL yeah. And it seems like 2 is a considerable advancement and improvement from some E3 impressions.

Yeah, I feel like this one's hard to predict. The reception was so mixed that it seems hard to get a handle on how Knack 2 might do. The lower price and better word of mouth if it's actually as improved as it seems to be could make a difference too. Seems like a lot of variables.

True. Game looks great but yeah wouldn't be surprised if this one does no where near as good..but if it does do well lol the downplaying in crash threads will look like childsplay in comparison

The $40 game initiative from Sony could turn out to be very smart. You don't need to go full open world, asset overkill questravaganza and can increase the volume of exclusive titles fast.
