Nah, AC3 was pretty great, too.

Just wondering, but what do people that like AC3 like about it? IMO It's incredibly scripted, the cities aren't fun to explore, you can only take one or two paths if you climb around the trees and the trading stuff isn't worth going into.

Hey, check out these two naked ladies in this guy's bed! He's a charming ladies man, just like Ezio! You liked Ezio, remember?

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I'd be really disappointed if the backlash against Connor scared them off from trying new personalities with their protagonists.

Well, At least the lead seem to have a personality unlike the cardboard of a human Connor...
hope we see some actual gameplay next time.

Fucking fantastic, doubt Gamestop has the posters in yet since this probably was not supposed to be out there yet.

The CG trailer is really good and the setting is much much better than the boring AC3.
Still we all know the game will be the same, the same naval battles from AC3 will be back and play a huge part. The next gen consoles versions will be the PC version at max detail (not something conceived for next gen). So I'm fully prepared for disappointment.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
PS4 confirmed, if they keep this up and it releases the same day or launch PS4 & 720 we arw probably looking at the greatest console launch of all time game wise
And I think this long generation is to thank for it

ACIII had a myriad of problems from story to gameplay design.

I loved ACI. I 100% sync the next few games and AC became one of my favourite franchises.

But ACIII was just downright terrible. From city design to its fighting mechanic to its economy. It was just a poorly designed game and their idea of taking "nothing" from its predecessors really hurt them. The naval battles were mediocre but I can't imagine a whole game around them.

ACIII really hurt just because I expected so much and it fell so far.

The cities are really fun to explore, in my opinion. Definitely have a lot more depth than any other AC. I also find the whole era interesting.

Hunting animals and climbing trees is really cool, too. Actually felt like I was in the wilderness.

The weapons and kills animations are the best I've ever seen.

The naval battles are certainly entertaining. Never seen a game do it before.

And of course, the online is incredible. Only reason I pay for Live anymore. Most fun I've had with multiplayer this whole gen.

Connor was too much of a softie.

somebody needs to that guy a pair o' balls.

I'm currently rehosting the video btw.

Connor gets a lot hate that he doesn't deserve I think. Wrong him and get in his way and you'd best run for your life and I think AC3 showed this. Things is we got to see him grow. With the others I believe you were introduced to them once they were already in the hood and had been tested. They were already in the game so to speak. People don't start out as badasses. They become them and I think Connor did that in the end.

I skipped the 3rd one because the 2nd was boring and I didn't read so many good impressions about the game but this one is tempting.

In the caribbean, a pirate story. I must buy this one.

Do we know if it will be cross gen? I guess like for most of their nig games Ubisoft will release this on almost every platform (maybe Wii U for me then... or PS4)

Henry Rollins is probably not happy about the title of this game bit damn this trailer looks amazing.

I am not fond of AC games but the trailers are legendary - and this one is amazing.

You do know that there was a Black Flag bug spray and hundreds of other things the term was used for long before Rollins names his band, which is kind of why he chose the name (not the bug spray) right?
You also realize that Rollins is a hell of a cool guy?

If they can deliver on half of the trailer it should be a great game.
I think there will be many diverse terrains and areas to 'play' and show things off.

Wow beautiful. Character modeling is such a pain in the ass...

Can't wait to watch this.

Connor is my favorite assassin and I enjoyed the fact that he was devoid of emotion and somewhat cheesy. It fit within his character and the shit he's been through. I know I'm alone on this, but it was a nice change from Ezio for me.

Connor was all about emotion and rage, which I liked.

I am liking the confidence this guy is showing though, lets hope hes interesting.

It was boring as shit and was filled with too much soulless crap.

Those are issues alright.
Only if you didn't look deep enough.

It's a game, first and foremost. And the many club quests and requirements were excellent sources of gameplay. Not to mention the 100% sync goals. Hell, the homestead missions were fantastic too. But no, let's all keep droning on about how it Forest Gumped the AmerRev and how boring the missions were. To me, the vanilla missions were tutorials, the 100% sync goals was the meat of the story missions. It's a game, folks. It's mind bending reading these threads.

Better than expected, but leaves much to be desired. I need to see that it won't be a buggy, unfocused mess that AC3 was.

Ubi releasing 2 cross gen games in Q4 (this and Watchdogs) of similar genre.

They should space out the release of both games to avoid canabilsm

What the ...

Yes, exactly! It's a GAME thus it should be stimulating. Having a bunch of soulless, repetitive shit to do doesn't make it fun. Adding lots of it doesn't make it exciting.

AC3 is the most soulless game I've played in years and feels like a robotic, sterile experience.

This is the closest were getting to an open world pirate game for quite some time, hopefully its worth it.

Sadly this is how I am seeing this game.
If it is a success, perhaps other devs might try the theme in another IP.
If not they will say "nobody plays pirate games"

I hope this doesn't mean we get Watch Dogs in December. With AC4 coming out during the end of October, it seems December would be their only choice.

Why can't this be a character trait? I admire Ubi for giving us a flawed character. People complain he was a mouthpiece yet complain about something like this? He could have been worse, a super Native hell-bent on destroying white people in a super-cliche fashion. get over it, folks. We have a flawed hero with an amazing turn in the Homestead missions. Was great seeing how he reacted to the romance questions.

Was the naval combat in AC3 any good? I'm really curious if they're going to fully embrace the pirate theme and design the game mechanics around it, or this is just a game about an assassin who also happened to be a pirate

Ahh, cmon, 3 had some issues , but I would hardly call it a franchise killer.

Three was my most hyped game of last year. It has left the franchise on life support for me (this coming from someone who even loved part one). I'll check out part four, if it sucks, I'm done with the series. It was also the game series I was most looking forward to a next-gen version of. Now I barely care. That's honestly how shit I thought three was.

Like I said, I'll give them one more shot. But, three hurt a lot.
