Big shipment of PS4 at Target today?

December NPD will be squabbles about supply and demand.

January NPD is where we will see major meltdown posts.
This.

Edit: on second thought, I wonder if January is going to be supply constrained as well. They still need to feed the voracious global demand. Wonder what percentage will be earmarked for the US

As much as I love seeing hard data, I don't want this guy to get fired over this. Posting district numbers is too specific, you are asking to get caught.

I'm doing what I can to avoid any specific information being referenced to where I am or exactly where I fit into it. Only Bish knows exactly what part of Best Buy I work for, but I appreciate your concern!

I was just about to say the same thing. They take these things very seriously, both retailers as well as game companies. They no doubt have people that read these forums. Don't do anything to risk your job if you value it is all I'll say. Now as somebody that is a fan of games, thanks for the info. It is very telling.

Edit for above:

Sounds good dude :)

Perhaps, but only for one console. I think the XB1 will be vastly outsold in January and it will be clear that it isn't a supply issue.

I think February NPD will see the chalkboard being raised and Titanfall hoisted onto it.

But I am a bit of a pessimist when it comes to the XB1.

Haha, Abdiel is an angelic name, and has nothing to do with my given name. But, yeah, I appreciate the concern guys. I'm making sure to avoid posting any part of the page that would reference it to me. Those numbers can be found by any Best Buy employee, and just in the Northern MA district there's well over 1000 employees.

Abdiel, are you aware of any memo similar to this that was given out to Best Buy?

I haven't seen anything like that in our employee news, or email for that matter.

Though there was an update yesterday that said Xbox Ones no longer have to be kept off the floor in areas with low theft. They can put them out in big stacks as long as they've got spider locks (security locks) so customers can just grab them and go to the register, because they're readily available at all locations now.

My local Best Buy has employees that have freely expressed to me they "can't sell the Xbox Ones". I saw them putting some on store shelves with the the black wire security devices. Target also had Xbox Ones and zero PS4s.

Don't make them go Castiel on your ass man. Keep fighting the good fight.

Just take some Cboatese. You'll be fine.

I wonder what GAF admin account got hacked that necessitated all Gaffers change their passwords. I gotta imagine Bish's account is #1 most wanted. His PM box must be the equivalent of the video game NOC list, with all the insiders he's vetted.

The fact that ps4s are so scarce still makes me wonder if it's actually demand, or the blue light of death issue. I wonder if SONY maybe slowed or altered production to fix the problem?

I would bet it would be Evilore than everyone else.

Just because something has a moniker doesn't mean it's a widespread "issue".

I'm not saying it was a widespread issue, but maybe it was something Sony wanted to take a look at manufacturing wise? Might have slowed production some to see what was causing the issue?

All right! Day over, and I managed to get updated pictures.

Here's the (lack of) PS4 Numbers.

Nothing district wide. The order numbers aren't even necessarily accurate, because they aren't in transit, and the most recent shipment they all received were well over 100 per store. DC for the area lists 124 units. 124! Gah. I know Sony is shipping them all over, but the demand through our stores is clearing us out immediately on availability.

Xbox One, updated from yesterday.

Sold about 10 district wide since the last photo I posted. The DC listing on another page is still around 6000 units.

So! Yeah. Again, the weekly sales numbers are not to be taken as gospel, or even sort of an actual metric of what the stores have sold... The use of that number is for adjustments, or End of Life/At Risk product... as in, if you haven't sold one in 3 months, and you have x product, how much needs to be sent back to the warehouse, etc.

One of the other guys was talking about how their DC system works, and ours is similar, the numbers in that screen are not used by our DC teams. They have their own internal metrics and reports that are far more accurate and reflect much more important divisions than our quick reference inventory system.

Cheers! Hope your weekends went well.

Buddy, host that somewhere else. PMing you why.

Whilst unfortunate for those affected, the failure rate is well within tolerance. They will be investigating, but with the obvious demand they have - they'll not be stopping that production.

Like others have said Jan looks like there will be even more shortages of PS4s.

Now on Titanfall, I think a majority of it's sales will be on 360 and not XB1 since it is a cross gen title and not an XB1 exclusive.

wow there is a ton of gamers in NH lol. look at the avg weekly sales.

I live in Salem NH, people from Northern Mass hop over the boarder all the time since there is no sales tax here. Methuen/Lawrence goes to Salem, Lowell and the surrounding area goes to Nashua. So we have the NH and MA gamers fighting for stock.

Thanks NeOak!

I've edited my original post, but the linked pictures in the thread won't be an issue, the 'danger' is taken care of for now, and I won't use that account for further linking. I appreciate the warnings and looking out for me, everyone.

Glad you were still online!

Stay safe, and thanks for your insight.

I hope I'll have better news for people up in New England still trying to find a PS4. Rest assured at the very least I'll have an update about shipment news when I have it. Since we don't have NPD numbers yet, is why I figured I'd share what stock situation was for those discussing the nitty gritty stuff on the whole ongoing thing.

Abdiel, can you comment on the Sunday sales of XBone in your district? 10 for the whole district on a Sunday doesn't sound like very much. Is that typical for this time of year for a new console? Any idea how many other consoles were sold that day, for comparison?
