.... i dunno man. It was a lot less "forced" then either Ezio or Connor's eventual change to mature assassin. Altair started out as a master assassin... was brought low by his arrogance and then slowly worked his confidence back up over the course of the entire game via the sub missions and talking to other assassins. He clearly starts cocky as fuck - gets regulated on - starts of bitter and in a rush to redeem himself and then slowly learns what it means to be a Master Assassin... where towards the end of the game he is conscience of not only his enemies goals and desires but also the help and support he has been receiving and the gravity of his situation.
Compared to - Herp derp revenge in both the other games.
Why can't this be a character trait? I admire Ubi for giving us a flawed character. People complain he was a mouthpiece yet complain about something like this? He could have been worse, a super Native hell-bent on destroying white people in a super-cliche fashion. get over it, folks. We have a flawed hero with an amazing turn in the Homestead missions. Was great seeing how he reacted to the romance questions.
The trailer is CGI or next-gen graphics?

So he didn't progress at all. He is bland because that is what he is. He hardly shows any emotion.Precisely. Altair didn't instantly change himself, it was a slow progression. And, to top it all of, he never lost his arrogance. He only learned to keep it in check. It still came out on occasion and continuously caused problems for him. He was never able to fully rid himself of his weakness.
I honestly only think people call him bland because he isn't constantly making quips, something I find annoying more often than not.
Blackbeard is saying all those exact things about him in the voiceover.
And its Blackbeard of all people too.
Was that mentioned somewhere? Would be awesome if true.the best part of ac3 was sailing and the battles.. i don't see any other games that will let you be a pirate and open world sailing. picking this one up.

It felt way too forced. I am suppose to believe that suddenly doing more assassinations that he has done a billion times before is suppose to make him humble and learn something about being an assassin?

This dude seems to have a lot of charisma like Ezio, which is a good thing.
Connor was such a dull main character.

I'm disappointed they wont be able to salvage Connor as a character. I really liked his flavor and stylings.
It would be awesome to have open world sailing. I doubt that's what we will actually get. I think the sailing with be completely separate just like it was in AC3. Open world cities, go to dock, loading screen, next scene opens you are on your ship somewhere traveling towards a specific goal. Mission ends, loading screen, you are back at port. I will be pleasantly surprised if it isn't like that at all.
Great, but it poorly executed in the game. The game doesn't show how gaining information is difficult. It's so easy he should be more arrogant then before. We never see why he should show respect for his other brother because he does everything with ease. He doesn't struggle anymore then he did before. Earlier you said he was still arrogant but also able to see he is no different from his brothers? Being arrogant is feeling like you are superior to your brothers. You can't still be arrogant and be humble at the same time.Being brought low by Al Mualim is simply the starting point. He is also forced to do all of the research for his new targets, something he hasn't really had to rely on in the past. He always held himself superior to his brothers, but was forced to realize that they really weren't all that different to himself. He had to learn to think of them as other human beings instead of simply tools to be used.
Progression does not equal getting rid of your weaknesses. You must think Superman is a wonderful character if that is the case.
Altair has a very similar personality to myself (with the same emotional cycle), so it's hard for me not to see when he shows his emotions. They're not as blatant as the night and day emotional cycle that other characters go through (and other people in real life), but I've never been able to think of them as being anything other than act that is being put on because of how different the range of emotion is to the one I show and know that I go through.
Earlier you said he was still arrogant but also able to see he is no different from his brothers? Being arrogant is feeling like you are superior to your brothers. You can't still be arrogant and be humble at the same time.
Overconfidence in your self is also arrogance, something that he still struggles with. He understands now that he is really not much better than his brothers, but he also overestimates what he alone can accomplish from time to time. Knowledge and action doesn't always equate.

Hmm, so here's a question -- who's the guy in the leaked screen shot?
Well the game is rumored to have co-op, so maybe one of the co-op partners?Hmm, so here's a question -- who's the guy in the leaked screen shot?
WHERE IS CHARLES LEE?!It's a shame his grandson is Connor. He must be rolling in his grave wondering how such a dumb, boring, no-personality sourface could ever become his grandson.
Alright, the Assassin's garb is officially ridiculous now. It honestly just looks like Altair time traveled to this era and slapped some guns on there to not be 100% out of place.
This is not really shown, I never got that once from the game.
AT LEAST they should've went with black

I'd rather have a Pirate hat instead of the Assassin Hood® too
This game reeks of retcon
How can Edward Kenway be a pirate, yet during his son Haytham's backstory, he lived in a mansion?

The white hood is a trademark of the Assassin. In fact, I am pissed off that the hood is not beaked like all the other hoods.
Besides, you can probably dye your clothes like any other game.

For an order trying to hide and blend in with crowds, their choice of clothes not changing for hundreds of years seems pretty dumb. You'd think the "stalker hoodie with bird beak" would've gone out of style and gotten suspicious eventually.
I keep waiting to catch up and play these games but every time I do, there's another game coming out. What the fuck?
Okay the shop is not the best, but I want to be able to wear a pirate hat

Totally agree that the Assassin's garb is played out. Why couldn't they approach it like they did with AC Liberation? I mean, most of the other assassin's in the universe dress relatively normal. Nope not the main char though, gotta keep looking like Altair to keep them sales up
You call him uninspired but then you want generic pirate? How about a a parrot on his shoulder too. They can make a eagle/parrot vision. Send the parrot out to scout distance ships on the horizon.
If he was that elaborately dressed, his ninja-like abilities could be compromised (and some people would complain about it being too different).
