P5 got a lower score because there are some aspects of it that are less than perfect.

It's not a big deal. 8 is still very good.

There are things I don't understand here. Isn't a 8 in EDGE quite good or have they relaxed their standards? Isn't a 80+ in Metacritic a sign of a great game? Nioh, Nier and Horizon are 89, should I pass on them then?

Save yourself for 90+ games. That is the way I am doing nowadays and my life has been much better.

I am kidding, Horizon is probably my GOTG, go play it

Great score for persona from Edge, considering an 8 on their scale is a 9 or 10 from most other publications.

I don't really see anything wrong with the scores, Edge is one of the few outlets who actually sort of still uses the full 10 point scale.

4/10 for Bombermban? Is that game really devoid of content or something? I thought it was pretty fun playing with friends but we WERE curious if there were unlockable modes.

The core game is good but there is just not enough content to justify the £40 price-tag, IMO. I think Edge's 4/10 is a little harsh, but it was probably reviewed pre-patch.

I don't know I played it for like 30 minutes and thought it was just a trash game. Sent it back. This was pre patch when the controls were atrocious, maybe they reviewed that version.

It was one of the worst games I've played in years.

Everything above 85 on meta is probably very good, the higher ratings only indicate that the game was more compatible with different tastes than others. Games above 90 on meta have to be gems and games above 95 are most likely true masterpieces in their respective genres. -Even though something like GTA IV has gotten a 98 on metacritic, which already devalues what I wrote... -But I guess you could say it's an exception to the rule.

I think when it comes to Mass Effect Andromeda review, Edge will take no prisoners, I'd be surprised if they give it an 8, really interested to see the review of this...

It is, but it's possible they didn't get a review copy or they didn't get said review copy early enough.

In that case they wouldn't have had enough time to review and write about it since you have to take into account editing, creating the magazine then printing it.

Edge is genius they give undeserved scores to games that absolutely deserve them so that people will buy/ sub to their mags to read their reasoning

Literally the only reason I'll accept that 4 is if they got some serious bugs happening. The quest design is fine because a) when it gets unfair, you need to matchmake into coop and b) many of the quests are optional, so you can just leave particularly painful/hard ones.

In about 20 hours i haven't seen any bugs whatsoever but the game is definitely a bit on the ropey side. Won't be surprised if they got glitched to the nines.

The toolset, coop, various factions, rebel system, civilians, great world design (although probably too big) all make it a 7/10 for me at least, probably an 8.

See IMO Wildlands is also mechanically legit good (the only exception being the helicopter controls which are legit ass)

It must suck being a game reviewer who makes use of scores. Knowing your works will just be questioned or hated for being too low/high a number.

Now let me ignore my own point for a second and say ouch at the Ghost Recon score. 4 makes me think something's just plain mediocre.

Look past the buzz and it's the predictable score. It's the latest major JRPG from a reputable developer, it's a normal score and they usually got 8s when they were more common during the PS2 days (and even on handheld!)
