Isn't that exactly why Nintendo is spacing out games? Mario Kart is out by the time people start finishing Zelda. Then shortly after is Arms. Then Splatoon 2.I'ts going to be very interesting to see how opinions play out once the honeymoon is over and everyone has had their fill of Zelda.
The drought for this system is going to sour people.
I love the idea of the Switch and I want Nintendo to succeed but there's so many glaring basic flaws with the system.

PS4 did have a browser at launch. Your point still stands as it had issues such as thumbstick wear off and some bad HDMI ports at launch. However, I feel the switch issues are much more in quantity.
But some of those missing games and features is what caused the Wiiu sales to flatter. If the Switch don't have those soon specifically big third party support, I fear it will do Gamecube numbers at best.
I dont think its fair to compare switch to the ps4 or xb1.
For starters, these consoles could launch without a single exclusive for a year and they would still have games every month.
Things like a browser and netflix are far more useful on a tablet than a console.
Lastly, these weren't successors to a giant flop of a console.
These arguments make total sense, the only problem is the "i dont need so and so" thing is what led the wii u to be what it was.
You dont need to care for call of duty to know it sells more than the total number of wii u's sold, every year.
Off course then theres the whole likely issue of Nintendo doing its 'new' iteration.
With how much you see enamoured by Nintendo, i wouldn't blame you for forgetting 3rd party games exist and sell truck loads, yes, real live actual people buy them and play them.
But is Nintendo satisfied with that? Are they content with only pulling in Nintendo only fans? Outside of the Wii, every console lifetime sales are on a downward trend, would Nintendo be fine with 10mil or less console sales this gen?

I'd imagine most who brought at launch would know what they were in for.
So that would make them die hard fans as they were willing to spend an extra $400-500 for a superior experience. Just like there were some Zelda fans who spent the extra money on a Switch. As I said, unless you're a fan of the company or one of the launch games there is no point in owning a new console at launch. You will save money, avoid the beta phase, get access to a larger library of games, plus you get all the features that are implemented during the launch year.According to a Nielson survey relased 1 year after PS4 release, the number 1 reason purchased a PS4 was graphics. So some people upgraded their consoles to play the same games in better graphics.
Do a Mario Kart enhanced port and a fighter with motion controls (unless they're optional?) have the same universal appeal as most major Nintendo games though? Certainly not on the same level as Zelda
It will be good to have some more fun multiplayer games but that's not the same level of engagement you are going to get with a new Zelda or Mario, or even a brand new Mario Kart (though admittedly, I'm sure a lot of people missed Mario Kart 8)

They have a ton of third party indie support.A couple of ports and a motion control fighting game are not nearly enough.
They need more solid meaty games like Zelda, and there is nothing else in that vein between now and Fall.
This is why you have to get third party content to be competitive.
You would not be disappointed. Shovel Knight is amazing and Specter of Torment is a great add-on. Its currently timed exclusive for the Switch.I wish there was more games currently. I'm almost tempted to get Shovel Knight for the first time now...

Is it wrong that I agree 100% with the Miyamoto quote on the OP? lol
I think this is a very hasty topic to be making... 2 days after launch. Unless you're afraid it'll actually succeed and people won't care for most of these points.
The perfect Nintendo console would have been something like a DS Lite/3DS sized portable without any gimmicks. No 3D, no extra cameras, no waggle, certainly no detachable controllers regular D-pad. $199. 720p on both dock and handheld.
For local - multi, they could sell joy cons that you can carry around if you want.
streetpass? This isn't a DS.
Mario Kart is out next month. Splatoon likely the month later. Then there's stuff like DQ Heroes (not getting part II on the PS4 this time, getting the Switch version).
That's not to mention indies, with Blaster Master 0 on Thursday.
For most people with jobs and lives, you don't need to buy a new game every week.
The launch feels like just a soft-launch to ride the Zelda wave. Everything is as barebones as it gets.
My guess is that the real "launch" will be holiday season. But things are going to be rough once the Zelda honeymoon ends.
Once the Zelda honeymoon ends, we get Splatoon.
Steam doesn't, Android doesn't, IOS doesn't, Origin doesn't, UPlay doesn't, GOG doesn't, Humble Doesn't, Blizzard.net doesn't.
MS and Sony do. That's literally it. That's not an industry standard.
They have optional achievements.
Giving developers the option to have achievements isn't good enough for some people.
There is no such concept outside of Xbox and Playstation.
Origin, Uplay, GOG, Blizzard, and Steam all have achievements. Try again.
How is that supposed to work on a small low quality screen?
