Of course people downplay BC when it's on a MS console. Some people are unbelievable.
What downplay? BC is a great feature, I think everyone agree on that.
But BC was never a big deal.

So if PS5 is not bc with PS4 and PS4neo, nobody will care about it? Doubtful.
For a feature that supposedly is not used I'd say it's pertinent.Only MS will released a pointless pr statement. Just like their NPD statements this gen.

Agree 100%. This should be praised for the sake of the industry.Ridiculous how many people come into this thread solely to try and cut down on the xbox one, even though backwards compatibility is in all ways a positive for the industry.
To put this in perspective Halo 3 had 40 million hours palyed in 1 week.
I'm sure they'll care, just not enough to make any effect PS5 sales.
Now, if MS offered BC on the next gen Xbox (which they will) it will make negative PR for PS5, and that will definitely affect PS5 sales (In a negative way).
Halo 3 is probably one of the biggest online multiplayer launches ever on console. I'm not sure that's a fair comparison.
bc is great for preservation of console games. i'm glad nintendo and microsoft support some form of physical BC
It's a nice feature that comes at no extra cost to the consumer and allows them to play content they purchased on the previous console on the new one for free.
MS announces a milestone for use of the free feature.
Some on GAF scream for "context". Why? An innocuous statement on a free feature gets this much scrutiny and scorn? Seriously?
For a feature that supposedly is not used I'd say it's pertinent.
With the history of MSPR recently? Can you blame anyone try to put some context on such PR?

Love BC
Hate streaming
PSNow is something I'll never ever use, whereas I'd have a PS4 by now if it played PS3 games
But world wide brand awareness, better games and more variety of games will make up for that.
I'll be honest, ive not used it once. But that's because my 360 is still hooked up.But I do think BC is good to have on present and future consoles
The lack of bc on ps4 has some folks quite irritable so obviously it sucks and Microsoft sucks and this is pointless pr hack.Ridiculous how many people come into this thread solely to try and cut down on the xbox one, even though backwards compatibility is in all ways a positive for the industry.
Who wants to play Skyrim BC when there's a 1080p remaster with enhanced graphics and mods coming?
Genuinely struggling to understand why so many want to find a negative or try to dismiss backwards compatibility as a compelling feature of the Xbox One.
Me...unless the new version has some sort of co-op coming (which i don't believe is the case but correct me if im wrong) i won't be buying it pretty much ever. Don't see the point in buying a roughly 5 year old game for full price. Id actually prefer the option of just returning to my original save state on the 360....odds are the game would perform better BC as well (reduced load times and such, i believe this was the case for fallout 3, and having played it bc i can say imo it felt extremely smooth). Instead with the alternative, these 'enhancements' to the game will like result in it running just a poorly (if not worse) then it did on the original last gen consoles, ie, load times may be longer, inconsistent frame rates. All for superficial 'improvements' imo. Like i said, if they added in something game changing like co op (let my brother play with me even if he can't influence anything in my world other then killing enemies and accepting loot i put on him) then they'd have my attention.

It'll run fine in Xbox. Ps4 is what people should be wary about hahaThat was a whole lot of words that were mostly conjecture.
You think the remaster will perform worse than the original games? Would you care to bet?

Where are people being negative on the feature? Where are these "BC is shit" posts? Where are these "I'm selling my XBone because it has BC" posts?
People are debating the worth of the number and what it can be compared to. I'm not seeing anything beyond that.
But that must mean it sucks and MS sucks right?
What else does yor crystal ball say about the next Xbox versus the PS5?
Brand awareness had the 360 on top the majority of last gen. And let's face it, the two platforms share 98% of the same library and the exclusives "better games" is subjective. I'll take the Xbox brand exclusives over the don't ones, easily. Especially because I can cross buy them for my Xbox and PC. I see that being a practice they keep next generation.
This. How many MAU did that tho?

Tell me what that means, Microsoft. Even as Microsoft shifts from hard sales numbers to "truth that Sony is kicking our asses"-obscuring "engagement" numbers, 100M total hours means nothing if Microsoft isn't willing to compare and contrast it to literally anything else within Microsoft's library of stats.
"It's a large number, so it must be good," I guess.
They should compare it to Sony's numbers in backwards comp!
Microsoft needs to get more flak for releasing unimpressive numbers without context about features no one cares for.
I'm not surprised - my pile of shame from last gen is offensive. Never quite finished Mass Effect 3 or BioShock Infinite. Has anyone had much luck getting their save files across to the Xbox One?
Celebrate the little victories I suppose.
