No AF is going to make wonderful textures look garbage. And that's why we are here.
Thank you.
The amount of stupid comments in this thread is becoming annoying.

I don't think it will either, but it isn't fair to use this game in the context of the thread. Just because a demo doesn't have good AF doesn't mean it has something to do with the PS4.
Thank you.

That doesn't excuse it not being there. Whatever YOU may think that just because the textures aren't ultra high res that AF won't make a difference, it WILL. This is a fact. You cannot dispute it. Even ultra high res textures at extremely oblique angles will not look amazingly detailed. But they will retain enough of the proper information, just as low res textures will. Instead of looking like a pile of undistinct mud
Not sure what point you're trying to bring across, so I think you misunderstood..
The person you are quoting is agreeing that a lack of Anistropic Filtering is going to make wonderful textures look like trash, which is the problem why this thread exists.
He didn't say anywhere that Anistropic Filtering doesn't matter, unless you just happened to quote the wrong person.
Oops yeah sorry, I quoted the wrong one. I missed when someone did the switcheroo with the comments about AF!
The fact that NT is "Looking Into it" shows how little they could've been aware this entire time. Not surprising since the port probably wasn't done by them, themselves. They are down to a small amount of people last I checked.
What is more likely is Crapcom gave QLoc a shitty budget and a tight schedule.
Devs, obviously. Some games have it, which means it isn't the hardware. So who is too blame here the actual PS4 or the devs?

A wild Yakuza Zero appears
That has to be 16X.
Really, who knows what's going with AF this generation.
Is DMC fixed?
And yet Chromatic aberration galore and shitty texture filtering (insanely easy to tell) abound like crazy in that BB screenshot
Jeez, if that's the IQ to expect from BB, then meh.
Wtf the game looks great, some hyperbole happening in this thread. And yet Chromatic aberration galore and shitty texture filtering (insanely easy to tell) abound like crazy in that BB screenshot

And your getting to concerned status. We've got a massive amount of videos pics retc on bloodborne and its a fantastic looking game. If you want to nitpick a still I can pull stills from almost any game ever made that doesn't show it in its best light. You think that screenshot looks great? 0 AA, essentially non existent texture filtering (Look at ANYTHING at an oblique angle. 0 detail retained besides mud. Compare that to textures right up front), Chromatic aberration slathered on for ultra next gen effect.
You guys are getting near apologist status.

We've got other direct screens that show it looking way better, he's trying too hard to pick it everything. He's referring to the IQ and in that regard it indeed doesn't look that hot.
Of course it looks good from an artistic standpoint but the muddy IQ affects the look of the game in a negative way.
I wouldn't worry about Bloodborne or any other PS4 exclusive really. We know that AF works just fine on PS4 and the titles affected by the issue are not exclusive but multiplatform and/or ported from 360/PS3(/XBO possibly).

I can be wrong but the AF does not look to be great... Look at the lower left where the dirt next to the rocks has a mudded image rather than a sharper image that AF would bring. But yeah, the IQ compared to games like Forza Horizon 2 look pretty low in this screen.

This is very clearly AA and very clearly texture filtering. To be fair the AA is pretty low and the AF isn't super high, but they are absolutely there and they look fine.
We've got other direct screens that show it looking way better, he's trying too hard to pick it everything.
Some other games have bad IQ too, it's not just Bloodborne. Bloodborne does have bad image quality though. The Chromatic aberration blows it out too. That doesn't make it a bad game, but it doesn't make it pretty. The art style still looks excellent otherwise. We've got other direct screens that show it looking way better, he's trying too hard to pick it everything.
It's not the highest, but it's there. Maybe 2x or 4x on that texture.
Can any of this stuff be chalked up to devs pushing "next-gen" visuals on consoles that are already considered somewhat underpowered?Even in other screens you're able to make out the exact things he listed.
I'm not hating on the game but I really wished this game had a better IQ. Some decent AA would have improved the look considerably.
I really wish FromSoft hired better programmers or used a better engine.
Horror-themed games tend to have CA.And yet Chromatic aberration galore and shitty texture filtering (insanely easy to tell) abound like crazy in that BB screenshot

Get used to it :/

You don't need to be a prick.DAFUQ? Do you even know what AA looks like? Nearly Every single edge. in this screenshot that isn't affected by DoF/CA is pretty much 100% RAW. Seriously. Look at that.
All of the people who don't know any better trying to defend what is objectively a fact is pretty hilarious.
The game has 0 AA from every screenshot i've seen in the console thread. It has CA slathered everywhere to muddy up IQ. It doesn't have 16xAF. These are facts.
Oh, ok. So, some arbitrary reason makes it ok! It's horror, therefore it makes some kind of logical sense to have this effect! It makes it scary! Ok!
Man, I must be playing the wrong horror games. Because i've played a ton that don't have it.
And it's not just horror games that are using it, and last time I checked BB is still an ARPG
So yeah, that pretty much invalidates your view.
Come on people, you don't really have standards that low do you? These games deserve better than this.
I think they're still looking into it; I guess they can't see it clearly enough.
Invalidates how? Bloodborne is horror-themed ARPG.Man, I must be playing the wrong horror games. Because i've played a ton that don't have it.

The character has 1:1 staircasing, but a few things don't, just look at the polygonal rocks on the road in front of him, they have some staircasing on the bottom but not the top. It has some form of very light AA. And nobody is arguing that it has 16xAF, I even said it appears in that screen to have a mix of 2x and 4x.
And besides, the AA, Chromatic Aberration, and the over all IQ are entirely irrelevant to this thread and bringing them up here serves no purpose but to start a fight. This thread is about AF and that's it.
Bloodborne is horror-themed ARPG.
If I'm not mistaken... TEW, Dying Light and ZombiU have them.
So far there is no hard fact/number showing whether CA is a plus or negative for millions of gamers, so jury is out. Right now if you don't like CA, it just means... you don't like CA.
The game looks incredible to me and even better in motion, you can pick apart almost every game ever made if your doing so from a static frame. Anyways this game has af as do 90percent of games on ps4 I'd say people should be asking the devs of the games lacking it as it simply can't be a hardware issue if the majority of the games released on the console are using af.Even in other screens you're able to make out the exact things he listed.

That's some really awful CA use. The game has a lot of thin details and it just ruins it.
