All this needs is rock solid online, and it could become a defining WiiU title.
There is online right?
naaah it's 8 player local, just like Smash

...The entire selling point of this game is the online. IIRC Iwata even said thatAll this needs is rock solid online, and it could become a defining WiiU title.

Uh... did you watch the same trailer I did?

Far from saying online was out, the online is the focus. The E3 press kit even billed the game as an online shooter.8 players online should be the goal, and I don't remember Nintendo saying online was out. Encouraging local play is a must for them still.
Hopefuly there's more diversity in terrain and elevation for the arenas than what's been shown. If that's instead being given to the campaign levels, then I don't know where the team's priorities lay.
Yes I've played online shooters. I didn't say over-detailed, I said diversity (i.e. layout asymmetry). Rest assured, I would hate to play the equivalent of GothicDM where everyone gets stuck on the least predictable elements. And there's a good traversal mechanic for getting between hotspots, maybe allowing for larger maps than what's been demoed.Have you played competitive games like Counter-Strike? GO overdid it with detail, objects like plants that work as cover and too uneven design in general which made for a worse experience.
You generally want to have a relatively small map with 3 choke points, nothing fancy going on. I think Splatoon has alot of very interesting terrain given the mechanics so that you end up having plenty of outs at any give time. That's how these games are interesting in multiplayer, not in creative level design (which you see in the SP part)
The platforming / diving aspect seems rather unique, and would be a huge missed opportunity if it isn't integrated into the campaign levels. But I just don't know how much time and resources they are devoting to the campaign. Is it just a quick response or something intricately planned?

All the demos done for this game at E3, Gamescom etc were with 8 Wii U stations and multiplayer. Unless someone thinks Nintendo will do an 8 players LAN party, this is definitely online.

he literally said online in the direct
and at E3
This game gets more awesome every minute! I really hope it becomes a new big franchise. It's also nice to see a little bit more diversity in the Inklings than in the E3 build. I know some people were concerned.

Anyone know if this game will use remote and nunchuck as a method of play? I'm interested, but I don't play dual analog shooters.
Of course. The reason the game is so difficult to show around is because the standard multiplayer, being online-oriented, requires a console per person.
Not sure what you're trying to say here. I know about the Wiipad controls. I'm more interested in whether or not we'll be able to play with the remote and nunchuck. If it's dual analog only, then I won't be picking this up.
I am trying to answer your question about the controls. Its gyro assisted dual analog. There won´t be any Wiimotes just because the map on your gamepad and the quicklaunch is an integral part in playing this game. Might be different for local coop - if there is any.
Thanks. I was hoping that wasn't the case. Oh well. Maybe they'll add it in before the game is released.
