Honestly, that was exactly what I thought too. This is all part of MS's recent spate of damage control "honest, we love gamers!"

I don't mind this really; I don't especially like or dislike the guy, but I don't think anyone should get special treatment on here. If he proves his worth as a contributer then fine, but I wonder how involved in the community he intends to get, as opposed to just fire-fighting and promoting MS products.

you know what? Major nelson was a bit arrogant doing that, but he was right - only looking silly in hindsight. It was simplistic for Angry Joe to say you could just 'flip a switch', and it was right for MN to call him out on it.

It was just *really* bad timing, and the 180 almost felt like flipping a switch - but of course they will have had to work on that longer than the announcement.

It's also bad PR. Grabbing the mic and indignantly denouncing someone over DRM policies is how not to do it. It's just obnoxious and unnecessary. Hopefully this sinks in for the Xbox division and Mr. Hyrb in particular.

Actually that's exactly what happened. He had registered but his account hadn't been activated for a while. Evilore found out and tweeted him to email his details.
