'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

I just found a retailer with a sense of humor that's actually using this image to promote pre-orders :lol

The press release didn`t mentioned upgraded textures. Only better models, shadows and lighting.

You`re still sure about impoved textures?

It's in the first sentence of the Blog post...

Moving our efforts to the PS4 has allowed us to remaster an already phenomenal looking The Last of Us in 1080p with a list of upgrades including higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, upgraded textures

Targeting 60fps = We think we put enough shadows in the game.

No you didn't. Put shadows in until you're scared the game will crash at the level select menu. Then you have a fraction of the acceptable amount of shadows.

Only way to break the trend is to go with PC gaming. An unfortunate side effect of continued disregard for BC on consoles is milking of upgraded rereleases.

Doesn't really work on games like this though as there is no PC version.

It's a shitty trend and I will not support it.
But people are clearly buying into this so publishers will keep on doing it as long it's financially viable.
It's pretty much as easy as printing money.

Please explain what is the problem with HD ports?

I don't get the issue here.

If only they had a special edition like it was for the original game. Goddamn that was a great artbook.

I do think the pre-order bonus is a bit much, but in the sense of how much it gives you compared to if you don't pre-order.

1080p/60fps, DLCs, upgraded lighting and models (hopefully to cutscene models) suddenly feel like a worthy purchase. Wish it was at least $50, but I'm definitely picking this up before year's end.

Keep up!

Both Killzone and Infamous were patched to include framerate lock options. Let us have both options.

I know. Infamous hasn't received it yet, though. Hopefully TLOU has it there day 1. This unlocked, stuttering frame-rate nonsense on PS4 sucks. I don't want to wait for patches that fixes your game's frame-rate.

So is this actually naughty dog doing this port? Or is it an outside company? Also, i am afraid 60fps will ruin the cinematic experience for me. My gut tells me that its gonna look like Ps4 tomb raider.

I think when this releases we are going to truly find out how durable that share button is. So many times during left behind I said I wish I had the share button.

I can agree with this -- the framerate lock option should be a day 1 thing.

Hopefully the reception and feedback given to Killzone and Infamous has all the other devs listening: Give us the option!

With that said, I think you are waaaay jumping the gun before we actually see how this runs!

"Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Framerate: 60 fps source
Higher resolution character models
Improved shadows and lighting
Several other gameplay improvements"

Alrighty. $60 makes sense then. I wont get it at that price, but there are going to be a lot of first timers who are going to experience this for the first time.

I hope they can sell the MP separately on PSN. I'd really like to see that game's MP in more hands

Damn, TLOU has the chance to be a juggernaut. Its like 6 million of ps3 alone for a new IP. The sales on ps4 should push it up to 9-10 million. TLOU 2 onfirmed!
