'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

Fair question no? I adore TLOU but it seems odd that if it was a dramatic upgrade beyond frame rate and resolution they'd have been showing it off before now.

It is a fair question.

All these concern posts are fucking annoying. It's gonna be godtier. Why do you even need footage. It'll prob be a Sony, let's stick it on YouTube job and see no difference affair.

Not sure if you are joking, or just blindly loyal.

If they are working on the game, that means its not gold yet thus released date being pushed out to some other month?

From what I understand, ND is still polishing this game and if they are still working on it, the game is not being printed or whatever into media yet. So um, anyone worried this wont make it this month?

Or is it that its done but they dont want to release media yet? Im sure I read that it wasnt "gold" yet. It was just a rumor or misunderstanding?

game is gold since july 4th

There is a gigantic fucking difference between "are we assuming the worst?" and it not being a dramatic upgrade *beyond* framerate and resolution.

Come on.

The infected animals look kinds of dumb to me. Plus, it doesn't make sense how the virus jumped from humans to all these other creatures. Birds, horses, and dogs aren't infected. Why would a lion or gorilla be any different?

EDIT: I see that this has already been addressed.

My bad. You're right. Mmmm...what is taking them so long then?
Sony PR is difficult to work with in regards to high bitrate and high framerate video and ND have said they don't want to show it in poor quality.

I also suspect they may have still been working on a day 1 patch or something that they want done before showing it off.

Gamersyde is no option for Sony I suppose, but you're completely right. Youtube won't do this game any justice.

Is this game definitely a PS4 exclusive?

Probably some melted PS4´s. The upgrade was to much to handle !

:D
Nah...I think RoboPlato is right. They wanna show proper footage and that's taking time. It would really surprise me, considering the expertise of ND, that this game would not live up to our expectations.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be 1080/60 with improved AA and textures. On TV, in motion it'll look like a big upgrade but screens and poorly compressed 30fps vids will likely make it look too similar to the PS3 version. Probably a real pain for them to figure out.

Come on.

Nonsense. Fearing the absolute worst from ND would be just the Framerate and resolution with only minor graphical enhancements. Given their track record that would be the worst I could imagine.

Also, why are we not allowed to express concern on here anymore without being told off by someone being little more than overly defensive.

How many games, remakes or otherwise have shown zero footage 2 weeks before release? Surely this is out of the ordinary. Concerns are legitimate

Many Rockstar games do not show gameplay footage before release, or at least right up until release, I know San Andreas didn't show any gameplay at all until a bit was leaked just a couple of days before release.

But outside of Rockstar, it is pretty rare. However, this is a remake, you know what to expect out of the game itself, and there are 2 weeks left, we know something is coming this week, and I will assume we will have media blowouts starting this week up until release.

They jumped from animal to human so it makes sense the animal strain would still be in existence.
We know that monkeys were infected.

You have it the other way around.
The Fireflies infected the monkeys themselves to study the effects and find a cure, because the cordyceps are a human strain they had no affect on the monkeys though they could still spread it to humans as Steve Blum discovered.

I know that but
It wouldn't be too much of a leap for the plot if 'some' animals did begin to show signs of infection

That's all I'm saying. The door isn't closed entirely, although I'm still not sure it would be a good idea.
I would much sooner ND made it another reason the human race are struggling to feed themselves rather than introduce animals as another enemy type. A scene to counterbalance the giraffe scene with an animal in pain and trying to stand would be quite moving. I COULD imagine different human enemies though, such as those other concepts we saw of several humans melded together

It's not, though. I'm sure there will be some minor improvements to the lighting/shadows/textures they mentioned but the truth is throwing up a YouTube video won't come close to doing it justice since the main upgrades are framerate and resolution, both things that YT will butcher.

Well it's based on a real thing that affects insects, so it technically did start there before jumping to humans in the game.

I know about the Ant Fungi, what I mean is that the Fungus would have to evolve to infect a different host, the cordyceps that infected these ants are not the same that will infect Humans. It becomes a completely different species of cordyceps, trying to infect humans with insect cordyceps would be like throwing a fish on land expecting it to grow lungs and legs.

Are you suggesting that once the condyceps had infected humans, the original strain died out? Isn't it more likely that both strains would continue?
