Lamest update so far. I'm glad for the 3d tv guys though. I mean give us DLNA and mp3 bitches.
Did 1.74 break something for someone? Also, I wish they'd only announce new updates the day before or day of. The coming soon nonsense is getting old. It's not like it's adding a ton of features either. Is there anyone really waiting for 3D movie playback? Give me suspend/resume already. That's a feature I'll actually use. PEACE.

DNLA would be nice too, but 3D blu ray support means I officially don't need my PS3 for watching discs anymore.

I'm looking at this optimistically if 3D playback is part of what is usually an incremental change when 1.80 finally arrives (soon) it will have the good stuff.

Finally, for fucks sake. My ps3 had now been reduced to just my persona 5/backlog box.
That is nice and all, but suspend/resume to me is a bigger omission, it is something they touted during the initial reveal in february 2013. I am very curious what is taking so long with this feature, or more importantly what the hold up is. There must be a serious technical or business barrier to Sony not pushing out suspend/resume.

Probably was implemented already as part of a bigger update for the fall. Now they have to shove it out quickly, because Xbox is giving them a lot of pressure. Glorious competition.

The probability of this having been a random happenstance that the PS4 firmware update for 3D Bluray support would happen within days of the XB1 update is low, in my opinion. By the same token, I don't think this is something that could have been thrown together in a few days, so I think my opinion may be off-base.
Edit: I take that back. Now seeing that the update isn't live yet, I'm back to assuming this is reactionary. It bothers me that its release was motivated by anything other than the platform-holder itself. Broader griping aside, this is still good news.

Sony really baffles me with their firmware updates. Nintendo and Microsoft seem to be much better about actually doing things with their updates and not seemingly "reacting" to someone elses update. Feels odd saying that givne that you would have thought last year before PS4 came out that it would be #1 for adding new features to the firmware in a timely manner.
