That shift must have been localized to that store, as the last two weeks results were superior software sales by PS4 compared to Xbone in the UK.

Very possibly, I am not making the assumption that it's the same elsewhere in the country, or online, but I just found it surprising and eye opening.

Talking about sales, I don't very often vist high street gaming stores, but I was in a local GAME at the weekend, the store is basically split in half, Xbox on one side, PS4 on the other.

The Xbox side (particularly the xbox one area) was bogging, full of people talking to sales staff and buying stuff, there was a definate buzz, the PS4 half was empty.

Intrigued (as the microcosm of gaming forums and sites, and the figures had me assuming the PS4 was killing it), I asked a sales guy if this was normal, and he said that, since SSOD had launched, the xbox one is pulling in all the sales, and the PS4 is a mere dribble to what it used to be.
Based on the Pal Chart Tracker, it is business as usual for xbox and playstation. Plus any major release will boost a console interest level

Moving goal posts? You want to discount a lifetime of Sonys bad practices for 2 years of not so bad yet condemn ms for a announcement that never came into being.

Got it.

It's all about which company is best right now. Sony were bad at the start of last gen, which is why they struggled to bring the PS3 neck and neck with the 360. MS has been pretty bad since around 2010, which is why they're getting the hate they are nowadays. Reasonable people will change their opinions about these companies over time, as their policies change.

I seriously doubt it, they really shot the pooch at the start of the generation, and I don't think they'll ever make up the gulf in sales figures, but no matter what you think of MS and the way it handles their businesses, they are gaining traction, they have a solid product (ok, not the most powerful) and are (seemingly) giving people what they want.

This gen is far from over.

Its over

Sony are countering MS well seemingly everywhere except the US. Even in the UK where MS is strong, Sony have some great offers out there with most retailers.

Quite strange the situation in the UK, since the launch of both consoles I have seen very little Xbox 1 advertising.

Infact, the only retailer I have seen advertising the Xbox 1 (TV) is Tesco, a supermarket.

Whilst I've never seen a GAME Xbox 1 advert, but atleast 90% more adverts by them for the PS4.

From my experience for every 10 PS4 adverts, I've seen 1 Xbox One advert, and the Xbox adverts are usually from slightly obscure retailers such as Tesco, which whilst huge and well known, aren't generally the first place someone would think to buy a game console from, that would generally go to Argos, Game and Amazon.

On topic of this thread, I've seen multiple outlets run titles "10m Xbox One's Sold", "Xbox now beating Sony", etc etc, without actually mentioning how it's not to consumers and so on.

I am condemning MS for the plans they had, which they only changed after massive consumer outlash. And the attitude they displayed.

Sony changed their tune years and years ago. If MS is still on the right track next gen maybe then ill give them the benefit of the doubt.

Got it?

Sometimes I wonder if people actually recognize how much 1 million is.

Or they're one of those people who think NPD is an indication of worldwide sales each month and not just North America. We seem to put ALL stock as to a game system's sales and worth purely based on NPD around here a lot. It's a tool to track a single region. We won't see 500k-1mil sales differences between these two systems on that report.

So we can expect Xbox one 500k to 1 mi ahead of ps4 in november and same in december?

From Amazon sales I would say XB1 outsold PS4 first Nov week 200-250k to 100k and will continue to outsell it at 150-200k to 100k unless anything happens.

So maybe 700-800k vs. 400k if (big IF) Sony has no Black Friday bundles or other deals available. But Sony or at least retailer will have the deals so Black Friday will decide the actual difference.

Then we'll see if XB1 will reach some market saturation even at the low price in December.

Oh right. A second job is more than 6 years behind us. And I didnt pick up a ps3 until a few years in.

Microsoft started with paying for online. Sony followed suit because they dont want to leave money on the table. I dont blame them lol.

You're basically cutting slack for sony and not MS. that's what it boils down to. Sony said online should be free, then made an about face and have a paywall. You're answer to that is "i don't blame them"

MS said a bunch of shit and made an about face prior to xbox one launch. The question now is " do you blame them? "

You sure the place wasn't called The Gamecube Xbox Hut?

It's just build up for xmas shoppers. Thanksgiving is 2 weeks from today. Supply and Demand is all. The numbers were probably close to the same last year.

400k ? No way ,too low. Ps3 in 2007 sold 466k in November.

EXACTLY. Again they don't give a damn about you as the consumer. They care about profits like all other companies. And if all consumers held grudges then no company would exist.

At the end of the day its nothing wrong with deciding when, where, and how you want to spend your hard earned money and what you want to spend your money on. People make their own decisions how they see fit. But remember that its never personal, just business.....and that rings true on the business side and on the consumer side

I just wanted to say, that I'm not trying to be an asshole. I just find gamers with internal biases to one company to be fickle and full of short-term memory when it best suits their biases.

I've been fucked by every single one of these companies in the pictures below, but at the end of the day, I love video games and think they all bring something of value worthy of our money.

Sony did 1 million in November last year. You think Microsoft will do two million this month? You are out of you F##king mind.

November last year was the console launch. They did 1 million in a day, which I very much doubt they're gonna repeat.

Though MS winning by 500k to a million is absolutely ridiculous of course.

I remembered where I've read this thread before, it was in the novelization of the Godfather.

Except in this thread everyone is Michael Corleone.

Are some of u daft?

Im not saying Sony isnt greedy or isnt all about profits. Im saying they are treating us gamers with more respect in recent years than Ms.

Or are you happy with all those great Xbox 360 exclusives in last years.. oh wait Kinect games.

Don't take it personally Sonny, it's just business.

Do people simply not realize just how insignificant November sales are prior to Black Friday relatively?

There is ZERO chance Xbox One sold 200-250K in the first week of November. If they cracked 100K it'd be a miracle.

I share that sentiment. I have only ever owned Sony and Microsoft consoles, but both are guilty of a lot of crap, and both have made products that have given me a lot of pleasure over the years.

That is a shit November.

IIRC best estimates put the Xbone at 6-6.5 sold with those 7.5m shipped to the end of september. There aint no way in all shit they sold 1m+ in October WW. I be surprised if they sold 500k.
I meant the probabally sold that much by right now. I figure they sold a lot at the launch of Cod and Halo.
Just think, if they sold "more than triple this past week of what they sold the last week in October (SSO week) that is almost a month's worth of sales there, so 7.5M is not impossible.

Last time people did math X1 was around 5.5 million sold WW.
Lets say they sell 500k WW for OCT and that is being really nice to them .
They would need to sell 4 million consoles in 2 months and that is not happening with how there WW sales are.
You telling me they have over 3M units sitting on the shelves?
They had 3M units sold through at the end of Dec. So it's kinda hard to believe that they would have only sold 2.5M units in the past 10 months.

This is purely my opinion, but I think some of yall are clearly underestimating the X1s sales.
If it is only selling. 4.5-5M in a whole year, then that is bad news for the industry indeed.

People using Amazon just needs to remember November is the only month of the year that 80% of the sales happens in two days (the BF week).

So Xbone can win the first three weeks of November and still lost the month.

It is really that interesting.

It is like: 50 50 50 400 :D

I'll come stand in the corner with you :).

WW it's over and that happens when MS made this bundles/price cuts US exclusive admitting defeat in rest of the world. The only battles will be held in US and maybe UK.

Do people not read? This is the scenario if there was no Black Friday. It is not my prediction for Nov numbers (which I would not predict before end of Nov).

There is ZERO chance Xbox One sold 200-250K in the first week of November. If they cracked 100K it'd be a miracle.

Why is that? XB1 had 2 SKUs sitting at the spot where one PS4 SKU sells some 100K a week. Plus some more SKUs at lower ranks.

There cannot be 2,5 m xbox at retailers.

You cannout always pick 25% => That was maybe right when there were 4 million consoles out there.

Just think when they approach 40 million in 2-3 years => There are not magically 10 million at retailers ...
2.5m at retailer?

Xbone didn't shipped 10 million yet.

And yes... ~2 million at retail in November before BF is expected and reasonable.

BTW if they shipped right now ~9 million then I will downgrade the my estimate to 7 million sold max... I'm guessing they shipped 9.5m.

I'm sure MS marketing dept had been praying for some good PR before Christmas.

If this is t short-lived, and MS actually does some serious damage during the holidays, then there is no way this price drop doesnt stay permanent.

I'm not going to keep moaning at MS for their massive fuck up at the start of this gen. But then I am also not going to buy a XboxOne. I was a 360 owner last gen and decided to vote with my wallet and get a PS4 this gen.
