Aaron Greenberg: Microsoft won't announce any new games at TGAs

So you compare two Triple A games with a downloadable game like Screamride(in which case we should count AA games like The tomorrow Children,Ori and other smaller games aswell) and you want to tell me that these lineups are comparable? what?

Screamride is not a downloadable game, it's a retail release. If you take the time to read through the last page or two, you'll find that we also talked about smaller titles already.

Because you're not interested in the order its not worthy 60$? there are plenty of people here on Gaf that think it's worthy 60$.

No, that's great, I just can't muster any amount of excitement for that game, having seen how it plays, that's all I was trying to say.

Since no one bought Sunset Overdrive or Forza Horizon 2, Bone owners will have 2 awesome ass games they can play in Q1.

I did buy both. I'm playing like 4 games at the moment at the same time (GTA5,Far Cry4,Shadow of Mordor,Evil Within), hard to keep focus on one. But soon, i will play the hell out of Forza Horizon 2 and hopefully finish Sunset Overdrive. Holiday vacations are gonna be fun !

We were talking about games with confirmed release dates, as opposed to release timeframes; Ratchet doesn't have one yet.

It is? I was expecting it to be a download only release.

Well in that case you can't even mention Microsoft and Sony in the same breadth. Microsoft have absolute zero games with confirmed releases dates in Q1-2.

Sony has 2 big ones in February and March. Not sure how that's 'poor' but hey.

EDIT: I forget, Screamride on March 6th.

I think scream ride has a date, maybe state of decay too, not sure.
Quantity wise, is comparable, let's not go into personal perference.

Marvel

could never
Eh... I haven't finished all the current Bone exclusives I have yet anyway. How do I hold all these games etc etc.

Really though the "no games" "argument" should be banned from use. Its a lazy and most of the time not true for any platform.

I got a month ban for implying it around E3 2013 so it's not like it isn't done.

EDIT: Looks like Besada is taking people out for it right now.

I don't think it helps when there is such an obvious (but accidental) error in the thread title that hasn't been fixed, makes it look unmoderated...

That's what i was thinking about. Isn't it Aaron Greenberg ? Because at first, i was like who the hell is Adam Greenberg ?

Errrr ofcourse? Why would they focus on 2015 in 2014 ? Its the second round of games of course production would have ramped up. Wait till e3.

It was ntkrnl that dropped bombs early this year when people were saying the same.
Halo 5 is the highest profile game for XB1 in 2015, I'm betting.
Quantum Break is also another AAA game they're pushing.

Beyond that I don't think we have any info on anything else and its unlikely something BIG would come out next year. Too early for Gears.

Back on topic...
I think they'll show a Scalebound trailer with gameplay and announce the Marcus Fenix collection.
Not newly announced games, but something Xbox One owners very much want to see.

We already know Phil Spencer is involved with the TGAs so they will most likely show something.

Not necessarily. That's really only true for 'super big games that the publisher want a very long hype cycle'' (Halo 5 and its multimedia set-up for Agent Locke, and MCC to set up new players for H5 ) and new IPs ( because big AAA new IPs realistically need a decent marketing lead time to ease players into the IP )

Annual franchises can easily forfeit it, due to familiarity, and stuff. Forza 6 will almost surely be announced at E3 next year, and will release as it always do.

Likewise, stuff like say... Gears Collection could easily be announced at E3 and released by fall as well. It's an established IP, it doesn't need to 'be introduced', nor does it need a long marketing cycle beyond 6 months.

I thought Phil said no Scalebound at TGA

Did Sunset Overdrive bomb?

Bomb is always relative. It sold 110k ish in the first month in the US, not including bundles. Bundles were very limited so they wouldn't add that much and Europe sales are likely half that as well. So best case scenario is that it is around 300k in its first month. That very well could be considered a bomb, however, it could be right in line with what they were expecting. Insominiac are usually good on budget and being on a single platform all help mitigate costs.

All that said, I don't think it did as well as expected. I think they were hoping for a bigger debut in the US than that with the way it was being advertised, and positive press. To call it a bomb though...only Insominiac and MS know the answer to that.

Phil Spencer confirmed we won't see anything from Scalebound. Marcus Fenix collection would be a new game so we won't see that either, unless Greenberg is messing around and doesn't see it as a "new" game. If we see anything from MS my guess is it'll be a new State of Decay or Ori trailer.

This is pretty much how I feel. Hopefully MS bundles the game in the future and lowers the price to get sales up to a million eventually. Maybe that gets enough copies out to people to drum up interest in order to green light a sequel.

Personally, I highly doubt we'll see anything from the '2015 and Beyond" E3 Trio (Scalebound/Crackdown/PD) until E3 next year.

I'd think we'd get new trailers for Quantum Break and Fable.

Pretty sure Phil said no Quantum Break as well.

Or at least see who is making it. Such a weird thing to hide

Unless they're waiting to announce those new first party studios we saw pop up earlier.

Idk, I think MS has a lot more up it's sleeve than we think. Shinobi hinted at that, and with the "2015 is so packed" comment Phil made, we could be in for a treat.

Who knows.

IMO, it's Sony's season for now. From now till Bloodborne they need to deliver some solid AAA games and they definitely have an excellent line-up to do that. MS did good this fall w/ FH2, SO and MCC.

Success via 'bundles' is a very volatile state of success though.

Especially since MS's bundle approach is giving out the game for free.

The Xbox one will be fine. Playstation has the first half of the year locked down and Xbox has the last half all tied up with all their games and the holiday shopping. With the witcher, batman, project cars, and the division all mostly coming out in the first half of next year the xbox one owners will have enough AAA titles to play for the first half.

Agreed, but new IPs need love and support. Especially something as awesome as Sunset Overdrive. I'd love to see MS support critically successful games with lower sales as it garners goodwill from the hardcore fans.

... Oh well, Halo 5 Beta Trailer!

Or maybe a trailer for The Lara Croft Awakens. It's not a MS game, but it is an exclusive for Xbox.

Yeah. I'd like to see something for Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Still a great package, hopefully the patch this week does some wonders. I already beat all 4 campaigns on Legendary, plus with the HCS tourneys coming up and the "compensation" we were promised, I think we'll see a resurgence of the MCC soon.

A game that its most recent presentation is a hands-off demo coming in early 2015? And a Ubisoft game to boot?

I wouldn't bet my money on it.

I thought Division is 2016?

I don't think MS has a bad year if releases but I'm afraid they are all at the tail end of the year. I would like things like fable, quantum break and maybe something like a gears remake earlier in the year and leave the end to Halo 5 and Tomb Raider. Ita hard for me to buy new games when they release all at once.

I'm guessing it's holiday 2015 at the earliest considering its MMO type features.

This if not early 2016. They would be smart to push it back and get the kinks out now considering the online issues they've been having with Unity and The Crew. I highly doubt this is coming out the first half of next year though.

Yup. This game needs a Destiny style beta.
