Yeah, waiting to announce a system until you have a good amount of content to actually show? Ridiculous.

I highly doubt it is about content as much as selling as many OG PS4 at 349 dollars. I just think it is dirty pool to spring a new system on people like that. Anyone who bought a PS4 since E3 until this is announced will feel pretty pissed off. 50 dollars more and they could of gotten a NEO. Now if they do this on a annual basis like apple it be different story people know each year when the new Iphone is coming.

Why is the eject button right in the slot under where the disc comes out? If real that's poorly designed! Let's have you stick your finger in the way of an ejecting disc!

Because you press the eject button first and then the disk comes out, you don't keep your finger there.

Fake?? .. you guys love your tinfoil hats, I would say No 4K, they have Neo for that, this only exists to sell more PS4's at a much cheaper price.

Yea this is real as fuck imo. The only thing I can think is that they're in the process of shipping these things to retailers right now so that anyone can go pick this up right after the announcement in a couple weeks.

And to people saying it has to be fake because of the bottom having the PS symbols, I actually think this is them making up for the fact that the first PS4 fucking wobbled. For as great as that first PS4 looked, that wobble was a fucking travesty.

I have to say though that unlike the XBO-S, this thing just makes me want to wait for Neo even more. The fact that it does't look that great isn't helping matters but it's really the lack of a 4K blu-ray player that's gonna make me wait for Neo. I just really hope that Neo comes out this year.

This made me thinking, does MS sell the XB1 S at profit? If not Sony and MS seem to be going on two completely routes with their remodelations

Wow, I'm surprised at the number of people doubting this. I mean, if this is fake, it would put even that NX controller to shame - and that's the best fake I've ever seen. I mean, we not only have multiple images of it from all angles, but we also have the box art front and rear, too. And none of it's potato cam.

This would be a god-tier fake if it's not real. It surely has to be legit?

No way this is fake

You should be basing your purchases off how old a design is and not what happened at an event that is becoming irrelevant with each passing year.

Looks pretty convincing, if it is fake then some one went to a lot of work for the lulz. Im still pretty skeptical because of the box art.

Classic PS4 box has the console vertical and on a gradient.

The "new" box on the other hand in addition to looking cheap has a white background for easy photoshopping.
Either Sony changed their design or this is a lazy fake..

Yeah I get it, I wouldn't leave my finger there but it's still bad design.

The first PS3 slim has the eject button right in the middle of the front of the disc slot and it's never bothered me before. The only way this would be an issue is if this thing spits out discs faster than Usain Bolt wins gold medals.

I'd be in the dick
The thing that's weird to me is the lack of a light strip on the console. Even on Firmware 4.0, the lightstrip is used regularly in the icon displays of the console. Unless the firmware detects whether you have a slim, standard PS4, or Neo.

I think it's fake. The eject button placement does not make sense. If you press eject, and don't move your finger quick enough, wouldn't your finger block the disc?

Also, isn't the perspective off in the picture below? It does not seem like this version of the slim has the front slope that the other photos have (and the original PS4 has). This looks like it is the same shape as an older Apple TV.

Keep your finger there and you'll lose it on that sharp disc.

You made me remember how when I was 15 years old I was actually scared to open the cover of the PSX with the disc still rotating at relatively high speed.
It looked like a spinning blade of death or something, what's a finger in comparison :D

Btw faking this design with all these details and specific design choices (no optical out, no UHD drive) is not something that can be done by a random guy with a 3D printer LOL.
The NX leaked controller was totally amateur in comparison, it was an oval block with two weird looking sticks, people falled for it because it was a real object and it was presented like a "prototype" to make people not focus on the design shortcomings.....and it worked.
This design is a pro-thing. If it's a fake who did it should be hired immediatly.
Also it matches the other chinese leak...chances of a fake are low.

I guess it's more the fact that it's inside and slightly obstructed compared to the PS3. Just seems less accessible. Not saying I would have a problem with it, just seems like they could have come up with something better. The design is growing on me.

Pardon me while I show you this PS4 box sold in Europe.

EDIT: I see your point, but it seems just a redesing of this, that works better cuz the console is not on the vertical

Lol, are you seriously thinking this pic is photoshopped?

The box art is awful. They need to find something new, the blue whoosh stuff is not aging well. It's just a box though.

Also, for the niche community that cares, I'm just now realizing that having no optical out on the back makes Rocksmith 2014 (and the upcoming rerelease of it) practically unplayable on this device.

Ya know, looking at that OG PS4 box, I still can't believe Sony was able to get away with showing the PS4 with a vertical stand when there wasn't one in the box, that's some bullshit right there.

Design is never a factor for my console purchase decision.

I wonder how much is it gonna be and will there be a (minor) hardware bump like Xbox S.

How is that Microsoft's consoles get better looking with the first revision, while Sony's end up looking uglier and cheaper as time goes on? I get that the point is cost cutting, but that's never evident on MS's systems, Sony's ones always scream that they've prioritised ruthless cost cutting above all else (and then the console itself ends up barely being cheaper to the consumer). You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who sees that cheap ass plastic and says "yeah, this looks like it's worth £300".

No. But, can you explain why it appears not to have a slope?

If this is a hoax, my guess would be that they made a few prototypes, and this one does not have the PS4 slope design, while the one from the other photos does.

I edited the photo so details are visible. Something funny going on with the vent and some kind of openable bay (for HDD maybe). Some guy in the background too :)

People still buy it. People could care less really about the look. They aren't staring at their console for hours. a $300 PS4 will sell like hot cakes simply because it's cheap and plays PS4 games.
