The first few mentioned are truly shitty. But out of the ones I've read myself, the worst would be Questionable Content. About hipsters, "drama," and indie music, with humor that fails utterly. Awful, yet many people apparently love it.

Boston & Shaun.

http://www.bostonandshaun.com/

Boston likes to stay in his pouch. HIS pouch. Never mind that in the marsupial world, males do not have pouches. No, Boston just wants to hide out in what is essentially a WOMB on a MALE. Stop and think for a minute how disturbing this really is. At first I just wrote it off as just weird, but look past the innocent veil of this thing and see it for what it really is. More fucking vore. According to the Encyclopedia Dramatica (don't click that if you value your decency!), marsupial pouch play is part of the vore fetish as well. Voraphiles like to watch people get shoved into certain parts of other people's bodies. LIKE DRAGONS INTO KANGAROO POUCHES. The whole sick picture is coming together, isn't it folks?

The worst part of all that this is all under a very unassuming guise, such that someone who didn't know better would think that this is all innocent fun. Odd, but innocent. But it's not innocent at all! It's horrible and porny and there are folks who look at this sort of thing to get off! I'm not the only who feels that fetishes aren't really a bad thing. I'm not mad at the fetish itself, but I'm mad at it being presented so innocently. If an author feels the need to make porn, just make it porn for real aimed at adults. Don't let that kind of creepiness affect our children, for Godsakes!

99% of all webcomics. Penny Arcade is one of the few exceptions and even then they are still hit or miss.

*sigh*

Might as well put my webcomic out for folks to pass judgement.

MALDEN

Its a adventure/comedy strip, so it won't make sense unless you read a good portion of it.

*gets ready for the hate*

Achewood.

"oh you just dont get it if you read the comic starting two years back you'd see how funny it is blah blah blah"

Well, while the humor may not be to every taste, one's appreciation for the strip does probably increase exponentially by how long you've been reading it. That said, I love Achewood. Hands down the best webcomic I've read.

Boston and Shaun looks like it was drawn by someone who drew stuff for kids' menu placemats at a shitty restaurant. Just mindbendingly terrible.

This was probably a bad idea.

MegaTokyo has pretty decent artwork guy just needs a competent writer or rather has needed one for like a decade

He parted ways with the original writer. The guy who enjoyed jokes and absurd things like godzilla appearing.

Shredded Moose. So awful that the internet itself swallowed it up. No traces remain, only testimony to how shit it really was.

I might think Boston & Shaun was ironically bad if it wasn't so similar to shit I see printed in newspapers every day.

As for truly awful webcomics, it's hard to top God Mode.

This comic filled me with hate.

Dinosaur comics is the worst that I see posted around regularly, but there are surely plenty more worse ones out there.

Whut? Hell no, Dinosaur comics is amazing.

CAD is easily the most popular terrible webcomic.

Is there an archive of it somewhere? I want to see what all this hatred is about.

Webcomic cartoonists and newspaper cartoonists often get into debates about the advantages of the medium, and how all the bright new web stars are the future, and the old crusty print creators are obsolete.
But I take solace in the fact that with newspaper comics you at last have a better source of income then three t-shirt sales a month.

Yeah, that wasn't really related to the topic at hand, but this didn't seem to be going anywhere.

Man GAF why you gotta hate. There are some truly horrible mindbendingly bad webcomics out there (see: the OP) but anyone who genuinely lists Dinosaur Comics, Nedroid, Super Mega, or even Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff is just.. I feel so stupid saying "you don't get it" but you just don't get it. It's fine to not like them, they absolutely require a particular kind of taste, but they don't belong in this thread.

Parallax

best seen in the classic "Shadow of the Beast"

to be fair, god mode was made awesome with its gaf feud. some of the funniest things in gaming came from those threads.

As a former fan, it appealed to my youthful desires of seeing my beloved cartoon characters in DARK and EDGY situations.

If only he had good writing instead of fanfiction shit and if only he wasn't such a [admitted] lolicon because he does draw better than 99.9% of webcomics.

wtf

just no. Nedroid is fucking awesome.
I don't read a lot of Nedroid, but todays does seem pretty terrible. The third panel especially loses all pacing with the poorly executed "slip", which places the burden of being funny on the last panel. But the last panel doesn't actually carry that, its meant to be the wrap up. So the whole thing kind of feels like it lacks direction.

Yeah, that wasn't really related to the topic at hand, but this didn't seem to be going anywhere.

You have a point regarding the fact that to make any income in webcomics, you basically have to sell merchandise. That or ad space. The upside of webcomics is that the creator has full reign on what goes in/out of the comic. Working for a syndicate (who distributes newspaper strips) you often have to deal with censorship/editorial, to the point that sometimes you lose control of your creation.

Of course the biggest personal pet peeve is that there are too many folks copying whats popular (Penny Arcade/PVP/etc) that its become the standard that webcomic ="edgy" gag a day strip, when there's stuff like Abominable Charles Christopher, Kiskaloo, and RatFist that aren't as well known, but are superb comics in their own right.

PS I actually like Penny Arcade/PVP, I just don't see why EVERY webcomic has to be like them. Its like movies only being comedies. Its too limiting.
