That's the kind of person you hope annoys the wrong guy at one of these events and he just redecorates the room with his ass.
yep, and it will be glorious.

I don't know how you could say that after what you wrote in the first place.
I'm confused. Are you now agreeing or disagreeing that the article you linked to directly contradicts what you said and that it's everyone else's fault that they're now not going to change their minds and believe your version of events?
The article directly contradicts that which you claimed [that, within the context of a discussion regarding the quote "what happens in this game ACTUALLY HAPPENED, AMAZING", soldiers were reprimanded due to the accuracy of the games portrayal of true events]. I'm not even sure what you're trying to argue anymore, but it has nothing to do with the original debate regarding the accuracy of the narrative.
Scenario =/= Story. It's the specific reason that you must say "Based on a True Story" whenever you make games or movies about specific events in History that aren't 100% fact. I also don't see how EA could claim that the story was "written" by T1 Operators if they didn't at the very least give general outlines of mission scenarios. EA would then take those outlines and craft stories around and within them to be more dramatic and bombastic. Hollywood does the same exact thing every time they make movies "Based on a True Story."
Exactly. A former PR shill complaining that a current PR shill was appointed to be the shill for an organization that nobody cares about.
Marcus is clearly being a proponent of higher journalistic standards here, not clear on why he's being villainized by a select few.
Frankly I don't see that much difference between him and Adam Sessler, both are video game pundits.
I can dismiss the showman stuff: the walking around with the belt and the clownshoes carnival barker persona. I guess you need that to entertain the masses.
When one bag of freebies isn't enough, when your greed takes over and you're -- there's no other word for it -- stealing multiple tchotchke bags and calling people you don't like terrible names, well, then you've crossed the line. That stuff is unforgivable.
It's a fair point, your opinion will depend on how lenient you are with regards to the use of the phrase "actually happened".
As a journalist, you shouldn't take any freebies.
Also didn't Marcus Beer work in PR before he got his job at GT. He's the opposite of the traditional writer to PR transition.

As a journalist, you shouldn't take any freebie bags. It's like the people at MS's E3 press conference taking extra seat warmers. You're there to do your job not take free gifts. I wonder how many people ended up taking home the Xbox 360 when it was given away. It's why there were so many stories about how great and quiet the new Xbox was after the event.

We are done here.Exactly. A former PR shill complaining that a current PR shill was appointed to be the shill for an organization that nobody cares about.
Dang people really hate HHG.
Is he really homophobic? Seriously?

No, he just put up a video explaining some of the accusations.

He's not. Just that where he's from, calling some a f-word is along the same lines of using any curse to insult someone.
fag·got 2 (fgt)
n. Offensive Slang
Used as a disparaging term for a homosexual man.
And who made up that definition???Sorry, no. HHG doesn't just get to decide what words mean.

Marcus Beer is that fool who was raging at Kamiya like a 5-year-old.
They both suck.
In my person experiences, both in High School and College, whenever the term was used as an insult, it was almost always in the sense that the person in question was acting in a way unbecoming of what a man should act like, or in an "annoying" way.
He works for EGM.
I have no idea what his credentials are.
Exactly. A former PR shill complaining that a current PR shill was appointed to be the shill for an organization that nobody cares about.
I'm rolling with hiphop gamer on this after watching that video.
I'll support HHG he gets way too much hate.

This. Fuck all the haters, he explained his position and seemed to be genuine about it. I can understand the 'faggot' comment in that instance, seemed like a moment of weakness to me.
Many years ago I made the mistake of frequenting N4G for supplemental gaming news.
His videos popped up there from time to time.
1) His persona is the definition of an unbearable human being.
2) He's an idiot.
3) I can't believe he's still around, let alone has clout in any sense of the word.

Meanings of words change over time. Clearly it's still used as a homophobic insult, but it isn't the only usage of the word.
In my person experiences, both in High School and College, whenever the term was used as an insult, it was almost always in the sense that the person in question was acting in a way unbecoming of what a man should act like, or in an "annoying" way.
As someone who is gay i appreciate his apology for using that word.
And i apologize for jumping the gun without hearing his side of it and felt so bad i personally sent him a PM on twitter because i felt bad about attacking his character and we had a quick chat through PM's and he seems very sincere.
Good to hear. Of course, people are going to ignore this though.
As someone who is gay i appreciate his apology for using that word.
THIS.Neither guy seems like they contribute much to anything.
And what does the ECA even do?
Any many use the word "nigger" in the same context over PSN/XBL when becoming highly annoyed with a person regardless of race. Point is, it does not change the meaning it holds in society today. Nor should it be justifiable especially when it has transpired in public.
At best I have always found HHG to be very awkward but using homophobic slur and people coming to his defence pertaining to this just blows my mind.
I have had Marcus on my radar for a long time and while he is not perfect, I would take him any day over HHG for a position meant to represent gamers' best interest or stick up for consumer rights in general in the gaming industry.
You can explain a position all you want and still be wrong.
Sorry, no. HHG doesn't just get to decide what words mean.
