Witcher 2 sex wasn't awkward to me.

I have a steam screenshot folder filled with examples. Does anyone want to see it?

Doesn't the lore basically say that magic makes you a champion at boudoir olympics? And that side effects of Witcher mutation are sterility (which is actually desirable), enhanced stamina (guehehe) and immunity to diseases (including the more... unfortunate ones)? The witchers are basically walking male sex dolls. Unsurprising that some of the more... adventurous women would want to have a go.

The sterility is actually not desirable. It's just something they have to deal with.

Given all the focus on genetics in the witcher it would actually be useful for witchers to be able to reproduce since those kids would be more likely to resist the mutation process. (nevermind it being a whole lot more convenvient than collecting ancient promises).

Also, people (even witchers)... like to have kids. Having children (or being unable to get them) is like... the main motivation of 50% of the main characters in the books :p

If we don't get someone to edit the thread title we're basically going to have a whole thread of people asking this.

There won't be 16 hours of sex in Wild Hunt.

This. Just because they recorded 16 hours worth of captures doesn't mean its all implemented in the game, or at least it doesn't relate to 16 hours worth of footage to be shown. Capturing scenes like that take a lot of time, they can capture thousands of hours of mocap data for cutscenes but it doesn't mean there's going to be thousands of hours in the game. Retakes take up the majority of that time.

16 hours of mo cap data........ I have a hard time wrapping my head around that. How many women can you even plough in this game? Do they randomly pick which mo cap data to use.

I don't like sex scenes in games for the same reason I don't like them in movies. They're ridiculously awkward and rarely serve any real purpose. It's 2015, real porn is at our fingertips. Sex scenes in games/movies aren't "whoa" moments anymore. They're typically (not always) just awkward.

I don't see the appeal of game characters fucking, I really don't.

Pretty much this. It's just a lazy way to show how mature your product is.

Hopefully it'll be a but more organic and better implemented than the last game. I mean don't get me wrong, Witcher 2 was a cut above the norm for sex scenes, it still had a long way to go to feel 'natural'. The immature handling or shying away from sex in games has always bugged me, so hopefully this'll be the start of a trend.

Motion capturing it is certainly a great idea at least, and hopefully will cut down on the manakin look of proceedings, which is a start if nothing else.

"Within the first 15 seconds the camera droops to linger on a woman’s fulsome posterior, moments after dismounting the protagonist, the white-haired monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia."

Well, that's not entirely true, since Geralt is just having a nice bath. Plowing Time before that is just pure speculation!

Yeah. I agree. Never felt that sex scenes contributed to movies. Hopefully there won't be many that are mandatory to sit through.

Yup. Still 'WTF' from Dragon Age: Origins sex scenes.

This info puts me off a little. I guess I'm just used to having more ownership of the player character when playing an RPG. A bunch of hetero sex scenes isn't really giving me that.

Exactly. It was cool in the 80's and early 90's when it was mind blowing to see boobies on our screens. Now it's just like...ok, can we get back to the game/movie? Like you said, today it just comes off as a lazy way to make your game "mature".

If I want to see sex I'll just watch porn. Stuff like this, even in TV and movies, just screams "look how mature we are!" "Adult themes!" "Not for kids!" "This game is for adults and adults like sex so we put sex in our game!"

Iirc. You could avoid all sex scenes involving geralt in the Witcher 2. Exept some implied stuff in the opening.
