I feel like these 'mature themes aren't mature' posts are an indication of immaturity masked as maturity. Which is pretty meta, really.

There is a legitimate place in videogames for sex and sexuality.
Cheers for writting what I was thinking but wouldn't bother to post. Agreed.

Those boobs in games are really scary. I'd rather take shotgun and blow someones head into nice fountain of 1000+ pieces of gore

not really

You'll say anything to ensure you see some video game boobies, admit it.

Oh, I agree that there is a place for it in games, I just haven't seen an example of it (yet) that didn't come across as cheap titillation, or "look at our game made for adults". It's Game of Thrones syndrome.

I played both Witchers and Bayonetta in front mother she enjoyed both games.

I think sex in witcher games have always had their own place and time within the story. Since the game involves geralt who has ongoing intimate relationships with 2 women. Whenever he sees them he has some fun which is completely ordinary.

I thought it was pretty poorly done in the first game. Sex with random women to collect cards was a very stupid and gamified way to add unnecessary nudity.

Didn't really have the same problem in the second game, though I didn't finish it, so maybe it eventually does go there.

So for any younger gaffers who haven't played the first two games, this is definitely not a game to play in front of your parents.

Speaking of entertainment you don't want to experience in front of parents, or aunts, or younger female cousins...

Rented that in '98 from a local Family Video. I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into. My aunt was actually laughing though, so that helped.

I watched that in front of my nan when I was like 14, no shits were given.

Yup. There's nothing wrong with having sex and sexual themes in games, but I've yet to see anything that doesn't feel lowbrow in how it tries to titillate me.

Shepard was also straight until one day he suddenly discovered the wonders of superior gay sex *shrugs*

So just because one company caves to the SJWs and makes everyone gay, you expect the rest of the industry to sacrifice the narratives of their games to pander to your minority agenda? With the omnipresence of gay characters in games at the moment, can't we just have one protagonist who's allowed to be straight; and not ruin the Witcher series' incredibly nuanced and subtle exploration of sexuality?

I was joking dude.

It feels unnecessary to me and seems like resources that could go into the game itself in a meaningful way are being wasted on fluff. The impact of a sex or love making scene could be great, but it depends on how it is presented and the frequency. From the little I've seen of the Witcher series it doesn't exactly handle this well though. It could be done great this time for all I know, have emotional resonance and be meaningful character and story development, but almost every example of this I've seen from gaming, to most movies, sex is treated in a very pandering and porny way so I don't have confidence they can deliver anything above that.

Ha Ha.

I saw that when I was pretty young and also had no clue what I was about to witness.

My friends and I just sat open mouthed, stunned at what we were watching.

Wolfenstein did sex right.

Dragon Age did it pretty well too...

I think games have evolved to the point where this shouldn't be shocking news, but a nice tidbit.

Wait... what's wrong with cheap tit-illation?

16 hours of mocap across multiple characters might translate into much more than 16 hours of sex scenes. I think that's what the CDPR rep was going for with his tweet.
