The problem with this theory is that the Beta already had the changes and CBoaT still stuck to his story.

There's no way they would have used the alpha textures in the final game. To me, the resolution seems like Microsoft not wanting anything to be 720p.
Wait, why is cboat banned again (somewhat arbitrarily I might add since he does't post that much anyway)? It's because out of all the things he's gotten right, he got a few things wrong? I'm not saying this to be snarky, but am genuinely curious as I haven't been following Titanfall all that much.
There initially was yield issues with the APU. But that is extremely common with more customized, esoteric hardware. It's not uncommon in the console world when dealing with customized parts, in other words. A part ending up with higher clocks does not dissuade from early issues.

Did CBoat ever specify the xbox one version? The implication was there, but the 360 version being 720p with the alpha textures would be quite something.

He got a few things wrong and hard headedly stuck by them even after the beta should they were wrong.That, and there are rules about deliberately spreading significant misinformation on gaf and they apply to him the same as everybody else.

) I still don't. So there is that...The reason I don't want a perma-ban for CBOAT for this is because this does not deserve a prema-ban. People get things wrong sometimes, I understand that. That is why there should be different level (severity) of bans. Most leakers on gaf try to get some sort of confirmation before posting on gaf. (If they don't then they usually don't post on gaf but rather go to tweeter, like Thuway and Famous have done in the past). That's what we have right now and it works great. This is one of the reasons I trust most leakers on Gaf, which is something I cannot say for other places.

He was talking about both, resolution and textures. Also why would respawn care so much about proving Cboat wrong? They're not even owned by microsoft.

I appreciate the benefit of the doubt given to cboat during these turbulent times. This place would be a much less lively place without him, even if his arrows don't always hit their marks.
As for the actual news, I still think 792p is a weird resolution. I wonder if a dyed in the wool pixel counter could even tell the difference between that and 720p.

Is this true? I must have missed that post.
There are resolutions other than 1280x720, 1600x900, and 1920x1080, and Respawn found that rendering at 1408x792 was the most acceptable compromise between image quality and performance? That seems like a more likely scenario than the developer and its publisher agreeing to base design decisions around spiting an anonymous leaker.

IIRC there is a specific software feature built into the Xbox graphics output that has a separate layer for UI overlays, that was designed to display at 1080 or whatever the desired resolution
So that regardless of the "game's" resolution, the UI would always be crystal clear, I remember discussing this pretty frequently during E3, and thinking how great of an idea it was, but I havent really seen any evidence of it?
