I've made a few more using a better image

600p vs. 720p vs. 900p vs. 1080p:

The difference in clarity between even 900p and 1080p is pretty nuts.

720p vs. 792p:

Definitely more artifacts on smaller details. Still a bit clearer though IMO .

792p vs. 1080p:

Just... yeah. No contest here.

I do like what yo did to compare.. but text benefits far more from (1080p) lower resolutions to 1080p than for example textures, shaders.

So it's pretty much a given that your text examples look much sharper in the higher resolutions.

(not that 1080p won't help for the overall image (it will).. but it won't always give the same results on all elements on your screen)
As that's a bit suggested with this compare.

From what I can tell the guy/gal risks their job posting what they believe to be Truthfact etc but as we've already seen things can change very quickly in gaming. I don't believe for one second he/she intentionally posts misinformation so should be allowed the odd mistake.

One of these, is how you give yourself an out. The other is how you get burned. Its quiet simple really, Cboat became the source of Truthfact here in Gaf regarding the Xbone over the past year, people were taking every single one of those miss spelled words as gosple and running with it. He turned into a News Organization of sorts, as such he must be held to the standard most of us here hope for when dealing with the news.

Part of me believes, that he may have gotten caught up in the rush of giving out pipebombs here on Gaf, and it got the better of him.

Needless to say, his reputation took a HUGE blow with this one, and people should treat anything more he gives out with huge grains of salt until he can regain the trust of GAF.

Sure it does. You are increasing resolution.

Any game with moderate to far draw distances and views will benefit greatly being able to resolve tiny details far away.

And let's face it. Not many games are DOOM style cooridor crawlers anymore.

people have a certain style of typing. Some type the way they would talk, others in a fully professional manner. Kinda like handwriting.

"Rile up the base"? REALLY? People from within the development community are the ones who are the "sources" behind most of this information. CBoaT, Pete, Bruce, and the others have proven on atleast one occasion to be spot on. With CBoaT and Pete taking top honors.

Most insiders only parrot things they hear, and sometimes the information is flat out wrong, sometimes things are totally scrapped, and sometimes everything falls apart. However, if you actually believe that some of us are going out there with some Anti-Microsoft agenda than I suggest you take a long cold shower.

I've heard information from sources that turned out to be 100% Fact, and other information from the SAME person be 100% False. Now should I burn this person and ignore everything he says or should I intelligently use my head and take everything- with a FUCKING grain of salt? At the end of the day these are all rumors, and until any company flat out tells you its true, it's a post on a message board.

This insecurity with CBoaT, and by extension NeoGAF, exists because so much anti-MS news was broken here. The reason so much negativity came down the grapevine was for one reason and ONE reason only: Microsoft pissed off a lot of people in the developer community. People talked. Information was crosschecked. Words came through.

Ask any insider what it was like to talk to a developer from your favorite third party two months after E3 2013.

In any case, the criticism is unfair, and I think majority of the people here who want to see CBoaT burn aren't actually interested in the rumors, but are bitter about the anti-Microsoft rumor mill. However, Nktrnl is a perfect example of a leaker who did an amazing job spilling some of the most positive Xbox One news since its inception. There is this silly console war persecution complex that resonates so heavily in this entire ordeal, and trying to kill off one of our oldest, most trusted leakers permanently in its name would be a great loss.

Oh and Backseat modding (forgive me), I know, but did we ever get an explanation why Albert Penello has yet to be banned for his misinformation?

Remember that there is a day 1 update of 900Mb so this could be the RES patch, this wouldn;t change the fact that it was released at 720p

The fact that he was wrong isn't so much the problem, he's been wrong before. It was that he doubled down on his claims after the beta released, the beta ran at 792p and didn't have the alpha textures. If you do that you better be 100% sure, otherwise you just end up looking like a fool propagating unreliable info as fact.

That's a fair point & you're right CBOAT hasn't done him/herself any favours on that one issue but what I was talking about was in reply to the whole CBOAT hate, it's been there since E3, there's been a lot of people who've been waiting for something like this to happen for a while.

Personally I don't get the whole 720p/792p stance I mean I cant see the difference between the two resolutions so was CBOAT basing that from opinion or what they'd heard?

Personally I don't understand the need for the comment in the first place as the difference between the two isn't that much of an issue, who really cares if it's 720/792p? So I don't understand the need to go out on a limb with that one but hey he's Crazy Buttocks right!

I do think the ban is fair though, I guess it's the action rather than the duration that counts, either tighten your shit up or reap the consequences.

Well it's like probability. Statistically speaking rolling 6 is no closer to rolling a 7 than rolling a 3 is. Either he's right or wrong. And it looks like he was wrong.

Not to turn this into a casino forum but statistically speaking the odds of rolling a 6 are MUCH closer to rolling a 7 than they are to rolling a 3. This is because there are more possible combinations that will display a 6 rather than a 3 (I know this bc craps is my main casino game):

7: 6 combinations, odds of 16.67%
6: 5 combinations, odds of 13.89%
3: only 2 combinations, odds of 5.56%

To bring this back on topic, I have yet to see TitanFall outside of playing the Beta so I am withholding judgment until tomorrow when I load it up on my One. I thought the Beta looked decent. I enjoyed myself more because of the gameplay than the resolution and didn't notice any major framerate issues. I can understand why folks might be upset at this lackluster number that's not 1080, "next gen" should have a higher standard but we're still in that cross-generational time period which makes it somewhat understandable.

You do wonder how much worth there was in hearing that the snap function crashes the dashboard or that Sony had some problems as well, considering that all these problems were gone at launch.

I'm sure you can appreciate the difference between lying yourself, and accusing someone else of lying when they're telling the truth. Respawn clarified that the game was at 792p, that the resolution would not be dropped to 720p, and that the textures in the alpha were not final. CBOAT claimed they were lying. This isn't offering new information about something nobody else new, it was claiming that we couldn't trust the information of those that were actually creating the product.

If I lie about something in this post, I'd assume that's less likely to get me banned than me accusing you of lying in yours (where you're being truthful, and everyone can currently see that with the evidence available).

That would have to mean that they had dropped both the texture quality and the resolution since the beta, whilst telling us publicly that they were hoping to possibly be able to increase the res closer to launch. Then at launch they choose to put the resolution back at 792p, and patch in all the original beta textures.

That sounds pretty far fetched to me.
