I TRULY look forward to near 1 click programs to make webms....so that many many more Gaffers can make them. Before making high quality custom gifs was too big a pain in the ass for many users, now we can see the creative works of tons more gaffers.

If there's one thing I like about webm's, is that you can stop it at anytime. It's as simple as moving the mouse cursor away.

Okay, I found the first disadvantage :/ You can't reverse-search wifs like gifs anymore, which was pretty useful for me on many occasions.

This could be very bad for movie industry.
Spoilers would ruin a film for many ppl who can't help themselves to a click away or someone to post one in a forum straight away on films release.
I expect forums will be having new rules added from pressure from the movie industry.

If you can't help yourself, probably should avoid forums.
As an Android user I downloaded MX Player to play webm's on my mobile broswer. No problem with them on my end.

GAF should support both WebM and WebP
That's what I did too, but it still needs to open the app. Kind of annoying that it can't be embedded.
webm links play fine in Chrome for Android
How is that different from a gif?

Most of these things play faster than they load.

Don't need an external player. When you click a link, tell it to open with Chrome and it plays in the browser.

No way. These things load instantly for me. GIFs at these framerates/size would take 20min lmao..
It's buffering. The host is being hammered now that the format has 'exploded'.
I have this problem with any of them that have sound. And the sound balloons the file size considerably. If we want this to replace GIFs, we should be making soundless webms.
Alot of people are posting ridiculously large files with high resolution and bit rate. The smaller ones load almost instantly for me.
If these ever get the go for embedding on GAF, there needs to be some kind of way to tell how big they are. It's great that people post wifs of games in great detail, but not everyone wants to open a gigantic video when a modest 360p one will suffice.

Ridiculously smaller in size compared to gifs. It will balloon. Circumvent youtube 30 second trailers/jokes/virals etc. No ad revenue for them.
I can see copyright holders right now, like:
forums in general will have rules added, if anything, regarding spoilers.

They work also in Firefox for Android. Actually these are waaay better than GIFs on Android.

Some of the videos do not work when quoted. Any ideas why? Is it just me?
For example - my Uncharted webm on this page works on my post, but it does not work quoted few posts down. I am confused.

Yeah, dunno. I think the browser's loading them separately for some reason? It seems to be worse for larger (MB) videos.

GAF is known for their E3 gifs. This will change everything.
However... I do wonder about the impact on people who don't know to install the add-ons for this. If I were to hop into an E3 thread and all I saw were just links and not actual videos, some of the impact would be lost.
