Not to mention, just giving $10,000 to a group that makes anti-Hillary memes isn't a reason to fire someone or for a company to 'crash and burn'.
But the backlash it has generated it's enough, I think.

So is the Donald subreddit actually supportive of trump, or are they just trolling. The way the mimick trump makes it seem like they are parodying him most of the time, or trying to get a rise out of people, you know classic trolling. Never 2would have guessed they were legit.

Is in the thread title dude.
Gets you real close tho.
Also consider that if abut 50% of the country would vote for Trump, it means 50% of the country would see him as a martyr of the "PC police".
This election cycle is so weird though. I feel like 60 percent of the population would prefer a third candidate while Schrumpf and Hillary split the other 40%. When it comes down to Election Day I really hope these Trump supporters are just a very vocal minority. We even have George Bush saying he's voting for Hillary. So many people also saying they they're not gonna vote at all. Like their morals put them "above it." That's just as bad as a vote for Trump in my opinion. Realpolitik 101. His camp knows damn well that if they can't get the votes of the young, the next best thing is to convince them not to vote at all by repeatedly lying about your opponent.
Sue me if I don't get all my facts from GAF thread titles I have yet to read in any of the articles about this by major sites that the group is a white supremacist group, if someone can provide a link that would be good. The most I've seen is that two of the founders of that company used to be moderators for /The_Donald, and at one point in /The_donald's history, one of the questions to become a moderator was to ask a question about white supremacists (though what I read didn't say what the answer had to be to be approved). I've also read that r/the_donald changed over time, in its first year it was a place where people mostly posted links to articles about his candidacy, and calmly discussed his chances.white-supremacist/misogynistic/anti-lgbt harassment group

Why are you even posting in here if you are blatantly ignoring the details and copious examples that have been provided?Sue me if I don't get all my facts from GAF thread titles I have yet to read in any of the articles about this by major sites that the group is a white supremacist group, if someone can provide a link that would be good. I didn't see anything in there about any white supremacy group. I see a pro-Trump group - and if that was Palmer Luckey's quote, he was obviously having fun playing a character, because he *doesn't* have a private jet, and I don't see how he could possibly have tried to convince Trump to run for president in 2008. I mean, where would a VR geek working out of his garage meet Donald Trump?

He disagrees with that assessment of the alt-right. He also thinks Palmer Luckey was just joking. And that we have no proof that Luckey is a trump supporter.

There are third candidates and neither of them reflect that 60% figure.
Over a day later and you still haven't found your answers. Probably because you don't want to.
Actually, from what the article says, yes. He basically gave a tiny (for him) amount of money (under $10,000) to a group of people to make anti-Hillary memes.
You're still here 12 hours later defending this guy with the exact same posts. Are you just ignoring everything else being discussed in this thread?
And yet, I'm not seeing any articles by reputable websites discussing that, just people here going all #detectiveGAF and speculating and making connections like "he likes Trump, he has a horrible girlfriend, some members of the company go to r/the_donald, so he must be a bad man and the company must be white supremacist so lets all dump on the guy!".There are 73 pages full of people in this topic discussing the ways in which this group and the people associated with it are bigots. If that's not enough, there is also another 40+ page thread in OT, and another 40+ page thread in gaming on Palmer Luckey himself.
It's looking more and more like he's not going to be let go anytime soon. If Oculus won't do it, they'll eventually crash and burn and Facebook week just close them down. I wouldn't be surprised to see a mass exodus from Oculus in the coming months.

I'm all for saying that Donald Trump would be bad for the country and has said some particularly crappy things; based on his statements, I would agree that Trump is a horrible person (assuming he's not just saying outrageous things to get elected, which is a theory some people believe). But I know smart, good people who are unfortunately Trump supporters, so just learning that Palmer Luckey gave $10,000 to a Trump-supporting anti-Hillary group is not going to make me want the guy fired or the company Oculus shut down.

How many ways do people have to tell you that Palmer Luckey is not being persecuted for voting for donald trump, but rather for associating with the alt-right, which is a hate group. Do you know what the alt-right is? You're seriously asking for people to demonstrate to you that Milo Yiannopoulos is a hate monger?
I knew I shouldn't trust Luckey when I saw him wearing socks with sandals
They're not going to let go one of their most valuable employees over a $10,000 donation to a political organization that near 50% of the country supports. When you add in Hillary supporters (like me) that support allowing this guy to do whatever he wants with his wallet, you're going to find that the people who want this guy fired are in a minority and Facebook is at best a moderate organization and isn't going to bow to the fringes.

Not defending Palmer but Devs dropping support for games promised on the platform seems like it punishes the unknowing consumer for something they had no control over.
If Oculus stepped in and did something other than blindly backing Luckey this might not be happening. At this point, this is Oculus' fault. Don't blame the devs for refusing to interact with something directly connected to hate. Not defending Palmer but Devs dropping support for games promised on the platform seems like it punishes the unknowing consumer for something they had no control over.

50% of the country supports an organisation spreading images and memes based on hate speech, anti-semitism, racism and homophobia?
Well, that's new.
I'm still kinda terrified by the fact that supporting an openly racist, sexist, bigotted demagogue alone isn't enough to be considered an asshole nobody would ever want to associate with anymore. Oh, how things change in the span of a year.
They support Trump. You're the one filling in blanks and forcing people who "support" Trump into being identified as a racist, bigot, or sexist on that offense alone. I know a lot of people who support Trump and aren't any of those things, including my parents, and I don't believe that because Luckey supports Trump that he is also any of those things automatically as well.

Luckey is heading and backing an alt-right movement. A movement that has just been explained to you as being highly racist.
Are you just completely unable to use logic and draw straight fucking lines?

Reading is hard tho.You said you form decisions and beliefs based on facts earlier but you are willfully ignoring all facts and reason.
You called out this thread that we're all just speculating based on nothing but the facts are all over the place showing who Luckey is in support for.
