Oh, about the Pokemon Rainbow Rumor...

One thing that doesn't make sense is the names of the Pokemon...this is a Nintendo Direct that, while worldwide, is PRIMARILY Japanese-based. Yet the Pokemon mentioned have English names.

The Eeveelution's don't end in "eon" in Japan, instead each Gen of Eeveelutions carries a different suffix sound (Boosters, Showers, Thunders in Gen 1, Blacky and Eifi in Gen 2, and Leafia and Glacia in Gen 3), so, yeah, that was the biggest BOOM for me.

Besides, it sounds dumb. The Digital Rumor at least sounded like a plausible evolution rather than a THROW IT ALL IN! Plus it was like fucking Gundam Pokemon, dude.

Nintendo were majority in rare before MS went to da bros. and den they had to sell up. Cd happen again.

Relations between Rare and Nintendo were also extremely strained by that point, and both sides were reportedly happy to be done with the other.

The setup that Nintendo has with Gamefreak regarding ownership of the franchise keeps it from going anywhere but Nintendo platforms, but still gives both sides the freedom to push it outward however they want.

Like I said, it all comes down to opinions. Niether one of us are right or wrong in whats better or worse, but I do vastly prefer the older designs.

Of the designs you posted, I only like Dwebble.. In fact, I love that one.. the others sum up my negative feelings- bright, stand out colors and designs that don't mesh with their actual animal they are 'emulating'. I really dislike Scraggy/Scrafty (lol sorry), Haxorus (I like his early evo forms a lot though), and Hydreigon.. I'm not really fond of Zoroark either, though that could be fixed with a more appealing/toned down, less 'cartoon monster' look.

I think this picture sums up what I don't like-
The loud, random, over-designed look as opposed to the simplistic but more charming (IMO) look.

See the problem is that that picture is obnoxious - it's like if you ask someone who is a poke-fan who hates Digimon draw what a Digimon looks like - and you'll end up with a monster that wouldn't even fit with Digimon. That's the problem I see in that pic - it implies that Gen V designs are like that. There is nothing loud or over-designed on the ice cream, garbage, or gear Pokemon for example. If anything you could argue similarly to Kadabra (what's with the brown armor and stache!) and the like.

Essentially that pic is about a generation 1 fanboy asking to draw how a later generation would draw his precious mons.

They're going to great effort to make this a global announcement. It wouldn't be too far fetched to assume they might localize a few names for the occasion.

To be clear, I don't believe this rumor though.

Creatures is also a fully-owned subsidiary of Nintendo.

Nintendo and Creatures both have a 1/3rd stake in TPCi, with Gamefreak holding the remainder, effectively giving Nintendo 66% control.
Right. God I always get confused. Pokemon is the most convoluted IP in entertainment history.

My team from the last Blue game I finished.

Currently starting Pokemon Silver.

I know it is cliche, but my team is always Red's from Pokemon Silver with a Raichu instead of Pikachu. Venusaur/Charizard/Blastoise/Raichu/Snorlax(or Dragonite)/Espeon.

Freakin' love Espeon and Charizard.

Is it possible to have a competent team of let's say a Sandshrew, Cubone, Marill, Snivy,
Pikachu and such but yet be competitive by them being high level (100) or do one absolutely have to have Arcanine, Charizard, Ho-On and big pokemons like that?

Nintendo didn't own the majority of Rare, they were the largest shareholder. They declined taking a majority stake in the company which is what precipitated the sale.

A couple of them can hold their own competitively now thanks to eviolite (or the Light Ball in Pikachu's case), but for the most part evolutions will win out. Competitively anyway.

Everyone has the same max level so you can't just get the weaker pokemon to a higher level. Hell competitively ho-oh and charizard are pretty bad as well as far as i know.

That isn't the same thing is letting go one of the biggest franchises in gaming.

Ho-Oh's an absolute beast as of Gen IV. He was always hardcore, but he legitimately rocks now. Just not Stealth Rocks.

Charizard continues to be cannon fodder though.

But it was three years for Generation 1 and 2 so it's not like there isn't precedent. It's typically even shorter in the Americas. We know there were delays for Gen V for whatever reason, which is why the remake team got to work on HG/SS to buy more time for B/W, and they ended up doing the same for Gen VI with B2/W2.

If I remember correctly Emerald only came to be because the DS games weren't going to be ready soon after launch.
Well, we'll see. It still seems too early for Generation 6. I'm convinced that it's going to be Pokémon Rainbow, or at least something similar. I don't believe it's going to be Generation 6, and I can't see Ruby/Sapphire remakes happening on 3DS either, so what other game could it really be for 3DS? There's no way it's just some spin-off game if they're hyping it up this much...

Pokemon 6th gen Vita exclusive confirmed?

1999 was the last time Game Freak put out a game on either a not-Nintendo platform OR with a not-Nintendo publisher.

They've been making nothing but Nintendo-published games on Nintendo consoles for the past 14 years. I think it's safe to say that Game Freak is in bed with Nintendo at this point.

What is eviolite and what does it do? :)

I really want my team to have Victini (if I can transfer it from my Black), a Snivy in its full evolution, a Raichu probably and Sandshrew have always been my favorite Pokèmon.

you have to have all Stunfisks or you can't win

hahahah someone needs to draw that pronto

anyway since this is a once in a life time chance of pokegaf interacting with regular gaf. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE POKEMON??

I've got a ton, but I've really taken a liking to Breloom

LOOK AT THAT STUPID ASS FACE

Scrafty, Muchlax, Espeon, Crobat, Dwebble, Bisharp, Gallade, Togekiss, Deoxys, Hydreigon, Arcanine, Honchkrow.

Bam.

I have to agree with that as well. I've watched all the Japanese intros...and some of them are really, really catchy and well-timed.
Some of the dub themes are really well-done, but it definitely helps for the Japanese to be the ones making the show and animating to the songs, as opposed to splicing clips together. It's almost always better when a dub just translates the songs into English rather than trying to make a new theme.

The 4th dub opening of Pokemon is pretty cool since 4Kids had the original studio animate a new opening just for the American release.

But stealth rocks is still in the game so what exactly solved that problem? I haven't followed competitive pokemon for a while.

Sandshrew has always been a favourite of mine but if you want to use him the only spot he will be any good is in baby batles (which are quite fun). Even sandslash isn't very good. It depends if you're playing casually or really competitively though.

ugh rage/meme faces get that shit out of here

Still has a huge point though.

What is eviolite and what does it do? :)

If a Pokemon holding it still can evolve, its defenses and special defenses goes up by 50%.

That's why Chansey with this is viable with Blissey in tourneys.

But stealth rocks is still in the game so what exactly solved that problem? I haven't followed competitive pokemon for a while.

Stealth Rock isn't really that much of a problem. Ho-oh beasts with its strong attacks.

See also - Volcarona. Has x4 weakness to Stealth Rock but curbstomps Charizard and is a really great Pokemon. Charizard on the other hand has shit movepool and stats, so even without SR it sucks.

Eviolite increases the Defenses of Pokemon that can still evolve. I wasn't sure if you were talking about those specific Pokemon or their evolutionary families, competitively or in-game.

You can still pretty much do whatever you want during the campaign if you're willing to use items and the switch battle mode as crutches, but competitively most of those are poor options.

Pikachu is still unobtainable in Unova, though I'm sure someone wouldn't mind tossing one your way.

But stealth rocks is still in the game so what exactly solved that problem? I haven't followed competitive pokemon for a while.

Ho-Oh was just never bad. It's always had gigantic base attack and Gen IV gave it new toys in the form of physical Sacred Fire and Brave Bird double STAB, plus he still has Roost and Recover to shrug off Stealth Rock damage if you can manage a safe switch. Gen V also improved Tailwind's effect so that only helps. If his hidden ability ever gets released, he'll be close to unstoppable.

Why do you think it's too early for Gen VI?

It's seemed obvious to me that Gen VI would be for this year ever since Genesect was revealed.

im hoping for a new batch of 150 monsters, but it would be great if the game includes all of them if it will be in 3d.

but will they ever top scraggy in design?
