Titanfall retail screencaps (XB1) show 792p resolution? CBoaT ;_;

I'm glad Cboat is not perm'd, but now I will have to question whatever Cboat says.

As for Titanfall, it's not the prettiest game, some parts are aesthetically nice looking though.

A sane person would question anything anyone says. You taking "truthfacts" as the word of jeebus? Insane.

The 360 version is 600p and they are trying to get as much distance as they can from that number.

edit: don't take that out of context - it is just a guess based on other games

Or they didn't want to be "just another" 720p game on the XB1.

The ass storm continues.

On topic: Wasn't sure whether to expect a resolution upgrade at all, to be quite honest. Not really any of my concern, though, since I'll go PC when I do wind up getting the game.

You know what the worst part of this GIF is? I understood it. Fucking lol gaf.

That's the point. It's no punishment if he still can speak when he normally expects to. A 72 hour ban is meaningless.

Complete and utter nonsense.

You want to punish the community, and not the person for some bizarre reason. Why?

If the mods decided that the point was to warn since his contributions may still be valuable (I don't know, I don't have enough information to access that), then your idea is completely counter to the actual point of the ban. Let the mods do what they think is best.

Edit: Nevermind, you are the guy that created the hilarious "Games journalism and confirmation bias" thread. Carry on.

To be honest, I was thinking it would be a 720 hour ban (30 days), but just 3 is good enough.

I wonder if CBOAT is under a lifetime probation now...

or like that theory by one of the members, who said that MS caught him and used his/her account to post misinformation to totally discredit him :)
That doesn't really make sense though. If they had access to his account they'd either use it to spread positive rumours or FUD against the ps4 . discrediting him is worth nothing

Did we ever take in account that CBOAT may have been right when he received his info? Upon leaking the information online, Respawn and Microsoft went into a scramble to fix the backlash from online. This would explain the odd jump of 72P. It might be the limit on what the Xbox One can achieve while upping the textures and keeping a frame rate of 60FPS. Just a thought...

I have had the same thought as well, but I let it out of my mind as I didn't want to care that much about this whole damn thing. Yet I still do, though.

I assume the real "punishment" behind the 72-hour ban is that it's a warning.

Now it's just 72-hours, but if CBOAT gives us false information again, it might be a perma.

I hate that it feels if they went with 792p just to escape being labeled as a 720p title. They would have been better off a 720 visually speaking. Oddball resolutions look worse on fixed pixel displays.

This. Sorry running a few pages behind.

I think I explained what I meant well. If you're using unreasonable people to calibrate your reaction to something, you're going to have a hard time staying reasonable yourself.
First of all let me say thank you for being concerned with my ability to reason. I checked and it's still working fine.

That's what I wrote
"CBOAT pissed in a lot of xbox fans cereals over the course of last year. Now some of them see an opening and are out for blood."
And after careful reasoning I still stand by it.

I pointed out Bish because he was someone who isn't motivated by factionalism who thought it was enough of a problem to make a statement.

I still don't know how you came to the conclusion I meant Bish with my statement - he certainly wasn't petitioning for a ban on CBOAT in all the threads sourrounding that topic - he made one single post. Some xbox fans were pushing their "ban agenda" really hard at every possible opportunity though. That's what I noticed and that's what I pointed out.
It wouldn't matter if someone were annoyed by bad info about something because they like it, we shouldn't legitimize stubbornly bad info.
And for the record - I never said CBOAT shouldn't be banned (as a slap on the wrist - certainly not a perma) - I simply chose to not petition for it in light of all the insight he has provided over the years as doing otherwise would have seemed hypocritical to me.

I never thought about that. It will look a bit dodgy even on a native 1280x720 TV.

Those first set of screens look like ass, hopefully for the X1 crowd it looks nicer when its actually on screen. Cboat's done this community far more good than bad; everyone wanting him under the bus is kinda sad. Hopefully w/E3 he can redeem himself a bit but I doubt there will be much killer news this year anyway.

Game looks fine for a fast paced multiplayer shooter that can have 30+ characters on the screen at once.

Had no trouble picking off players at a distance or seeing what was going on in the beta. I like the look of the game, especially the surrounding environments/scenery.

Yes, that's what I've been saying.

While 720p isn't a perfect scale, it makes more sense than 792p which does not scale well at all.

I think you're mistaken about this. What's your reason for thinking a higher resolution 16:9 image for a 1080p display would look worse than 720p when both are already off-grid? More visual information is being used to fill out the upscale.

Honestly I always thought cboat was multiple posters under the same psuedonym. The writing style doesn't always match up. That is why some pieces of info are more accurate than others.

God's had his chance.
Those page 1 screens have to have some kind of compression or something going on eh? Looks... surprisingly underwhelming.

As everyone keeps saying.. i'm sure it's a fun time but eeesh.. they couldn't make source sing a little more than this? ... kind of nuts.

I recall people thinking that ms purposely delayed BF4 because they were already taking cboats claim of the ps4 launch in October as fact

I responded with Bish because you were saying the reaction (by some Xbox fans) was an unreasonable one. I explained why the reaction was reasonable. I hope that's clearer for you.

Those images actually look on par with the downloadable version of Crysis on XBL. But everyone seems to Believe, so I guess that is all that matters. (personally, I played it and after a few hours I realized that MP games still bore the shit out of me)

Taking an otherwise exemplary track record into account...

720p = 72 hr ban seems fair.

As an Xbox fan, I really hated seeing him drop the truth bombs on Xbox One which revealed the level of fuckupery MS bestowed on that poor console. It was a tough time as a fan.

On the other hand. I think the sentence is fair. The guy had an amazing track record. I honestly believe someone told him some crap to out him. I wonder if we will ever find out the truth.

Sorry but I have to disagree - a 4 months junior calling for a ban of an Insider with a 9 year trackrecord under his belt isn't reasonable.

See, I could kind of see that happening, however, why the hell would he double down on Titanfall using alpha textures even AFTER the Titanfall beta had been released and proved otherwise.

The whole situation was just bizarre.

Its like when new people at my work try to delegate tasks to the senior employees and complain about their work when they have put in 15 years already. Im just like, shut up.

I'll just close by pointing out that my first post explained why that wasn't my point at all, and I predicted how distorted your view was because you're fixating on who said something rather than why someone would say it.

Well as been stated multiple times. The problem was he was proven wrong by the beta and his claims where directly disputed by the devs and he still stubbornly stuck to his story. Saying that the retail release would be 720p and having alpha textures, despite the beta having better texture and being 792p.

Yeah, that's what I don't get either. After we had seen the beta running at over 720p and with textures better than in the alpha he was insistent that the final game would be 720p and alpha textures. It just doesn't make sense.

Dont know why CBOAT stuck to his guns on this one. Should have just came out and just said "I s RoNG" when it was confirmed 792p. (which is still a hilariously random resolution)

I dont think he should get the hammer but .... ehh. GAF needs more loose canons.

I have no douth that game was probably targetting 720 for the longest time, right up until the end of last year but things change. MS made some dev kit improvements, hacked off some Kinect reserved resources etc.... The boat should have changed course
