Gesh, is no one reading posts:
1) Firmware 2.0 that Sony is excited about
contains NEW Vision and improved Audio libraries.
2) Sony has four business models for their IPTV Media including GetTV (OTA with ATSC 2.0 MediHub model), Vue (pure IPTV) and Cable TV Vidipath + Vue and Store.
3)
Vidipath or DLNA CVP2 will be mandated by the FCC this June 2015 and everyone with Premium Cable TV (DVR or VOD Box) can view IPTV streamed from the Cable DVR or VOD box on any Vidipath certified TV or STB which will include all game consoles.
4) With the Three network convergence (VOIP, IP, IPTV) being served by cable modems by sometime around 2017, Skype or some "Standard" VOIP will be supported by EVERY STB including game consoles.
Advertising for Vidipath by Cable companies and CE manufacturers will start late this year or early next year. Sony is starting the Vue IPTV network early next year.
Game consoles will be purchased for IPTV and Casual games with motion control more than AAA shooter games by late 2015.
There are 10 Vidipath certified game consoles (world wide) planned for release late 2014 or early 2015. The PS3 supports only Marlin DRM natively but Sony is now working on including Playready natively in the PS3. In the US, Playready is required for Vidipath certification and all US cable companies will be supporting Playready and WMDRM10 (Subset of Playready) for DTCP-IP. Sony said they were moving to Playready in 2011. The PS4 and Vita both support both Marlin and Playready.
