I wonder if the potential lack of X-Men will actually have a tangible impact on sales, especially considering you'll still get a shit ton of other Marvel characters and you can easily fill a full MvC roster with MCU characters alone and still have lots of space for quirky comic picks.

Series tradition or not, I feel like there'd still be far too many popular characters and an actually exciting looking game underneathl for there to be any sort of significant no-X-Men-no-sale movement. Especially with casuals who know the deal and are already dropping stacks on stuff like Contest of Champions.

It's always been weird to me, especially the Megaman thing for MvC3. Like, you're not going to buy this team-based fighting game because this single character wasn't in the game? Word?

i certainly don't think the lack of xmen will have any sort of real impact on sales, at least vs the potential of new fans they could attract with an MCU focused roster. the drop sucks, but ultimately if it's a great game it will be played regardless.

but there being confirmation on no xmen raises the question if the animator was also right about 2v2 + assist....

I can see two things if no X-Men

Capcom re-releases UMvC3 and says if you want to play as X-Men you can play that version.

Capcom is forced to not use X-Men as development has started some time ago and ban lift only just recently happened and will put them as future DLC. Now play as X-men for only 9.99

Okay so peep this.

What if it's like most marvel games where you select the 3 characters and their assist. But one character sits out and is the assist.

And between matches you can hot swap them out if the match up needs it.

For example.

Lord raptor/Sigma with namor assist.

And if you need to, swap it to

Namor/Sigma with the Zabel assist?

Kinda like Capcom fighting jam.

That could be neat.
