I try not to be a cynical and nasty man in my old age, but here's hoping both Pokken DX and Ultra SuMo bomb hard. Way to misread the market.

"That's it for today"?

I tend not to swear but this is fucking unacceptable.

Nintendo is letting all the momentum of the Switch just die instantly while The Pokemon Company laughs in their face.

Their last chance was Pokemon Stars and they blew it. Game over.

I hope this is in jest because holy shit man, E3 is next week. There will be more announcements soon. Chill.

Lol, so many people predicted it, but I still expected a mainline game announcement for Switch. I'm glad they didn't announce this at E3.

"Why is Nintendo actively working against its own best interests when it comes to Nintendo"

I'm interested in grabbing Pokken somewhere down the line though.

Poor Pokken. Finally gets support and it ends up being revealed when everyone wants something else.

As for USUM, meh. Not unsurprising but not really appealing to me.

folks mad as hell, damn. People been saying there's no precedent for this. Blame eurogamer, and blame yourselves for being s disappointed.

Terrible Direct. Simply Terrible

'hey guys, we're supporting Switch with a REMAKE OF A SPIN-OFF! WE'RE GIVING IT THE DELUXE TREATMENT.' Not even worth caring about.

Oh, then a double kick in the balls with new main games on 3DS and the VC versions of Gold/Silver (why not Crystal?). Just an awful Direct.

Really, people? Grow up. Stars was a long shot anyways, as was anything beyond it. Pokken on Switch is neat and beefs up the holiday lineup, and Gold and Silver are the best games anyways.

Welp. I'm guessing the meltdown is in full swing.

Oh well...

...on the positive side....at least they got the fury out of the way before E3.

Imagine expecting a Pokémon Stars reveal for Switch at E3 and you ended up with a Pokken port instead.

..that would have stunk the show up regardless of other announcements.

I was expecting the Pokken Tournament, still disappointed that the mainline Pokemon wasn't announced. Where does this put Eurogamer if Pokemon Stars doesn't appear at E3? Were they pulling shit out of their asses?

My reactionary roller coaster:

> Announces Pokken Tournament DX - "Good... Good..."
> Announces Decidueye as a new fighter - "OH MY GOD, YES!"
> Announces Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon - "Okay... Interesting..."
> Announces only a 3DS release date - "Sigh, I honestly expected that."
> Announces Gold & Silver for 3DS VC - "Okay... Go on..."
> No Crystal to be found - "... WHAT THE HELL!"

Interesting. Happy to hear we are getting a new Pokemon mainline RPG game, though I did not expect it to be 3DS only.

Does this sort of confirm that they will continue the trend of no Pokemon mainline RPG games on a home console, even though the Switch is also portable? I hope not, but I guess only time will tell.

What? Is this your first gaming generation? Gamefreak has on multiple occasions released the 3rd version(s) after Nintendo's next handheld has come out. This literally is doing what they've done in the past and means nothing

To all the people saying "Stars will be shown at E3"; Nintendo is NOT going to reveal a brand new Pokemon game that will overshadow Ultra Sun/Moon. Stars is dead until 365 days from now.

Sure glad I didn't bother buying a Switch yet, Nintendo can't even push them to put their main titles on it.

Yes. This 8 minute long presentation once and for all proved that there will NEVER be a mainline Pokémon game on Nintendo's newest system. Because that makes sense.

I don't understand why they wouldn't put Ultra on both 3ds and switch as a transitional title. Really weird decision there, especially when almost the entire trailer for Pokken is showcasing Switch in portable mode.

No issues with Pokken announcement though. Switch is starting to build up a fighting genre library now with Pokken, SSFII and Arms all in the first year.

Gets a big ol' MEH out of me, I hated Sun and have no desire to play anything related to it - especially on same old 3DS. Thankfully I never bothered to get the Wii U Pokken as it didn't interest me much but at least now if I ever do get the game I can get the 'better' version.

I hope they don't waste too much time at E3 on this crap.

I love Gold, it's my fav gen, but again, 3DS stuff in late 2017 can f**k right off.

Nintendo better deliver with this E3 and more and more with each directs from now on.
But I never really expected a big game today, at least it's more 3ds done before so there can be more space for the Switch next week.
Pokken DX might not be the best game to show at E3 anyway.

they showed a clip of that almost 20 year old pkmn game, crystal?, and it's the exact same gameplay as today's pkmn games but with slightly updated sprites

pkmn fans have nobody to blame but themselves

At least I was right about no new mainline game for Switch. Wrong about Switch-exclusive Stars tho :(

Again - why no Pokemon Crystal on VC, Nintendo? :(

Pokkén didn't do anything for me when it was first released, so this is definitely a bummer of an announcement.

Really makes no sense to port Pokken with Arms coming out.

It also means that rumored Smash Deluxe version is less likely to come out soon. It'd be weird for them to have ARMS and release 2 fighting games in the fall.

It's kinda funny seeing the meltdowns... but this direct was disappointing in more than one way.

When TPC does something good and makes a ton of money with things like GO "Its not Nintendo!"
When TPC does something dubious "Good job Nintendo!"

I'm getting Black 2/White 2/3DS vibes

And if you seriously believe this is a permanent move by Game Freak to avoid Switch development, well that's just paranoid/wishful thinking

Edit: how many more people are going to to equate Nintendo with The Pokemon Company. TPC does what it wants.
