Of course. Of course not every game is going to be a stunner. This is true but the topic still stands.
Forza 5 > The Crew > NFS Rivals > Drive Club
I downloaded those vids expecting the worst and then I watched them. Yup, it's just Gaf being Gaf again. Game looked pretty damn good to me. Not earth shattering, but it looked good. I want to play.
Anyone who honestly believes that is, quite frankly, delusional.
Bad framerate, pop in everywhere, foliage looks like ass, very unpolished looking:

Very disappointing, and now the whole "it's free with PSN" is starting to make sense. So far I'd definitely would give the edge to Forza.
The screenshots released a while back are not indicative of what the game actually plays like. Infamous/Killzone poop all over this.
People are complaining about a "jagfest" on Killzone too. Gamespot definitely mentioned this in live coverage. They said it did not look like the conference footage and actually was a bit of a mess. Don't shoot the messenger. Doesn't bode well for next-gen in general if these games don't look great....guess there is still some dev time left; but only around 3 months realistically, with crunch and bug testing taking up the last month or so, which isn't long.
They better be pushing over 1 million polys than.
That's the benchmark FM4 set with autovista.
And FM5 is FM4s photomode models + 20% so that is 600,000 or more I'm pretty sure.
This is true but the topic still stands.
Sorry but a youtube vid offscreen is never any good evidence for this.No they are not. It looks incredible, far from a 'jagfest'.

This thread needs more #DriveClub love.
Also, someone please post that GIF from last weeks trailer, the one through the woods.
Turn 10 is a developer with years of experience making racing games. It's a bit unfair to compare the games imho. I really like the lighting in Driveclub but I am not sold on the concept at all.
What I don't get is why Sony is creating another racing series when they have the Grand Turismo series.
What is it about Drive Club that sets it apart from the Grand Turismo series?
Anyone who honestly believes that is, quite frankly, delusional.
According to the Joystiq guys it looks great! And so did Forza. IDK maybe it looks better in person?
On come the fuck on. This shit has to stop.Took a quick look at your post history. Most of your posts have been pro-Xbox, so I'm not surprised.
Shhh, just let it happen.
What are the complaints it's getting from those previews?
Aliasing
Not many details around the track
Controls feels not accurate
Just a few.
But at 35% those points are absolutely normal.
35% complete worries me. Even giving Evolution the benefit of doubt, assuming the E3 demo is a old build and the game is currently closer to 50% finished, there's still only five months of development left, which extrapolates as a ten-month development period for the full game. Doesn't seem like much.
My take? When they say Driveclub is a launch title, they mean the PS+ version will be available at launch. Fewer cars, fewer environments, maybe not 100% polished, less dev time needed. The full-fat complete version then comes out when it's done, maybe this time next year.
Thoughts?
So far all the PS4 launch games (Knack, Drive Club and Killzone) don't look that impressive. Hope they can do something between now and the launch of PS4. Other games / third party games I have seen so far looks more next gen than these launch games. (The Division. Watchdog, Need for Speed, Killer Instinct, Metal Gear Solid V, Final Fantasy Versus). I know the games I mentioned aren't launch games but I expected more from Sony first party devs. especially when they only have to focus on one platform.
You are absolutely out of your damn mind if you think killer instinct looks better than KZ SF.

i am not sure what to say. its the only game comparing to Forza.. and on a system that should be more powerful. makes me wonder where is all that extra power ?
I have listened to people who played it hands on. Verdict: The game in current build is "ass" and not any better than a PS3 game. It may not even be a good PS3 game such as it stands.
I´ve only seen the vids and have no idea personally but trust the guys who tried it. They were also not particularly impressed with Knack.
i don't see what's so next gen about Killer Instinct. I don't see what it does so better compared to current gen 3d fighters. Backgrounds looked relatively lifeless and boring too. What exactly are these particle effects you are talking about?
This is the game yes?

I'm sorry but I can't take you seriously after that. Killzone SF is a fantastic looking game. What about it that doesn't feel next gen 'stuff' to you?
