Long story short, Kevin Feige was able to convince his Disney overlords to move Marvel Studios away from Marvel Entertainment (& Ike Perlmutter) and become a separate entity within Disney. Now Feige only has to answer to said Disney overlords, & Ike Perlmutter has no say in what goes on over at Marvel Studios. The only control Perlmutter now has over the MCU is the TV side of things. Not too long after this happened, we've seen signs of improvement concerning Marvel-Fox relations.

Also on a slightly unrelated note, Marvel Studios & Fox did a trade. Fox gave Marvel Studios Ego the Living Planet to use in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, & Marvel Studios gave Fox Negasonic Teenage Warhead to use in Deadpool in exchange.

Not 100% right. Fox already had the rights to Negasonic. Marvel allowed Fox to change Negasonic's powers for Deadpool (and presumably other movies) in exchange for the movie rights to Ego The Living Planet.

On topic, I would much rather see a Capcom developed Marvel vs DC, but that's just me.

As mentioned before, it all depends on when Marvel's stance changed & if Capcom got the deal inked in time for this change-of-heart. If Marvel ironed things out with Fox before Capcom reached out to Marvel, they're in the clear. If the rumor is true that the change won't take root until sometime in 2017, then Capcom may be screwed until possibly DLC.

What's wrong with the 6-button layout? All of the Marvel games through Marvel vs Capcom (1) used that button layout, and it worked beautifully.

I'd honestly prefer this, at this point. A more focused product that could get as wild as it wants because it'd be all Marvel (and brings it back to 1 v 1 and Gems) would make me happier.

Besides, barring DMC and Monster Hunter, most of what Capcom could offer for their side likely won't set my soul ablaze anyway, so I wouldn't miss seeing Ryu and Chun-li fight Wolverine, Captain America and etc. for the umpteenth time.

I would prefer this too. The Capcom side roster is really boring at this point. MvC3 did a decent job by bringing characters like Arthur and Frank West, and Zero (instead of Mega Man), but hot damn, I'm so fed up of Ryu, Chun Li, and Morrigan, it's not even funny. C. Viper was probably the highlight of the Street Fighter cast there...

I agree and disagree. I think Capcom's roster is still really huge and diverse but with series that has as many awesome and dynamic characters as Street Fighter and Darkstalkers it sucks that we see the same boring ones every time. Obviously there's no way you can cut them but I really wish there was more room to show off other characters (Hsien-Ko was awesome in 3).

• Doctor Doom
• Super-Skrull
• X-23
• Storm
• Magneto
• Sentinel
• Jean Grey/Phoenix

Basically anyone from the X-Men or the Fantastic Four tree of characters. There's also Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch, both of whom are also Avengers. But they got into Lego Avengers, so they're a bit of a weird case.

One of the things I did like about MVC3's roster was seeing characters introduced between 2 and then pop up (e.g. Dante, Joe, Ammy). Asura or someone from Dragon's Dogma on the Capcom side would be pretty cool.
