Sorry, Drive Club is the worst looking Sony exclusive.

Was pretty clear that they'd downgraded it heavily when it was shown in Sony's press conference. I can only imagine that they're having problems with the development.

(Target render videos are a risky, risky thing)

why that was confirmed to be a target render?

Lord Error

Insane For Sony
Actually, this gameplay looks way better than what was shown in the replay video. The huge difference here is that all lighting is dynamic, nothing prebaked. That city track in Forza is all pre-baked. It looks great, mind you, but it is similar to GT4's Citta d'Aria track in that respect (one of my artistically all time favorite looking tracks, also fun to drive).

But DriveClub has fully dynamic lighting, and that lighting, especially with the sun coming up (or going down) there in that first stream, looks mighty fine.
That's what I was thinking too. I don't know if any of that comes across when playing the game in person, there's been quite a few people playing the demo complaining about this game's visuals, even when they said it was very fun to play.

35%. Why the hell did they take this build, heck even taking no build would have been better than a damn build at 35%!

Well it wasn't that clear since I didn't notice a downgrade. Admittedly I was tired, what did I miss?

To be fair, I don't think Forza 5 looks any better. BUT that is running at 60fps so I have to get it credit there. We'll wait for the releases, or at least for them to get closer so we can get a proper comparison.

Based on the few gameplay vids I've seen, it's not blowing me away graphically. Neither is Knack tbh. Killzone SF and Infamous SS however, supremely impressive.

I agree with that.

Graphically, Knack looks like a ps3 game and i think Kameo - despite being 8 fucking years old - looks much more impressive than Knack.

Driver Club the same. So far i think Forza 5 is the better looking game.

But Killzone and Infamous are dope. Really like what i`m seeing there and definitely a big step up over current gen.

Agreed. Shame that Infamous isn't a launch title.

I'd be there in a heartbeat. Gameplay looks much more fluid than past titles.

The actual hands-on of PS4/XBO games have been pretty underwhelming after drumming up all that hype about how powerful they are. I suspected this was the reason why they were so damn shy about showing actual gameplay. Forza hands on was more impressive, but nothing like all the pre-E3 hype. The media will continue to cast everything in a positive light based on specs or the "smoke & mirrors" aspect of their unveiling, while their less than favorable hands-on showing will be downplayed.

The gameplay footage of InFamous is absolutely amazing.

I dont think either KZ or Infamous have been underwhelming visually.

Whats with the notion that every PS exclusive has to be better looking than the MS exclusive counterpart? Even last gen, if a 360 game looked better than a PS3 game we wouldn't have heard the end of it. There is definitely a double standard there.

Anyway, I'd take GT6 over any of these games, it looks insane (total package) I just don't know if I'll have a PS3 still when it releases.

I hate Forza's artistic direction with the cartoony lighting, but outside of that, it is a beautiful game to watch in motion. At this point, I would say it looks better overall than DriveClub.

That being said, we're comparing very early builds of both these games. I'm sure #DC will look better at launch.

I dont think their intent is to have cartoonish lighting, so id rather not call it an 'artistic direction'. They just cant get the lighting right.

I just didn't see nearly enough of it to make any real determination. Is there a fun game in there somewhere? I really have no idea. Like zero.

i am not sure what to say. its the only game comparing to Forza.. and on a system that should be more powerful. makes me wonder where is all that extra power ?

GT6 looks better than Forza and has night driving etc. On the PS3. Makes me wonder where is all that extra power of the xbone?

Even though I think Drive Club will be fine when it releases I agree that it is a DOA product (as Sony has realized themselves by now). When it was thought off, Sony probably thought: GT on launch day? Great idea. Polyphony of course will not do it. Evolution thought: Motorstorm sold ok but not great. But if we make a GT game? Great idea. They even asked Polyphony to use the name, but of course were rejected.

Turn 10 is a developer with years of experience making racing games. It's a bit unfair to compare the games imho. I really like the lighting in Driveclub but I am not sold on the concept at all.

What? Evolution has been making driving games since at least during early/mid PS2 era with the WRC games. It's not like they're a studio lacking experience in the field.

I'll wait and see what the final game looks like though before casting judgement.

I agree, but it still looks like it could be a fun, competent game. Not to mention the team aspect is a nice twist.

The only pop ups that I noticed that really bugged me are the 37 different screens at the beginning of the video, banging on about taking photos, racing for your club, showing line bars and lap times and all other nonsensical shit. Fuck.

And those are things that hardly exclusive to Drive Club, either.

Man, I want a console racing game with nothing major to unlock. Not circuits, leagues or cars, anyway. Give me all of them straight up, no licensing or A-league and S-leagues that I can't access on day one. I don't have time for that shit.

The gameplay footage of InFamous is absolutely amazing.

That was the footage that made me go, "Yeah. I'm gonna need one of these." Looks like it'll be a blast to play.

People saying Knack looks wack, but is there any uninterrupted gameplay footage out there? The montages make it all look very basic. But Cerny said it's inspired by Crash Bandicoot, God of War, and Katamari Damacy. There has to be some good in there.

Regarding Drive Club I've been indifferent since it's reveal. I'm just not into realism fetish racers.

As far as next gen racing games go, I've been most impressed by Need for Speed Rivals. Driveclub looks rough so far but I have faith in Evolution.

GT6 looks better than Forza
I hate to get involved this nonsense 'VS' battle that some people love, but seriously, people saying this are either on drugs or just haven't seen this yet:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lu_1rysu5_Q&feature=youtu.be - fast forward to 1:40 for the gameplay

Its really not even a comparison. Its a next-gen title, it looks great and a PS3 game just cant compete and that is NOT a knock on GT6 in the least. So y'all gotta stop with this. Its embarrassing to read.

Anyways, DriveClub looks alright. Its not blowing my mind, but its pretty good looking, I think. Definitely next-gen.

Wow did not many people, apart from the ones who mention it? Not realise the ps+ version is Not the Full version? But a cut down version? Sorry guys if you thought you were getting the FULL version free, watch that part again, hope you don't feel misled :(

Maybe the ps+ edition is like the prologue equivalent of drive club

Also did anyone catch that gakai may come to vita? At last that what it seemed to me! Ie more ps3 games for the vita

I'm a broken record but yeah, i was saying this before we saw anything about the PS4. Sony has a problem with its first party. They are loosely doing whatever they have in mind, and not focusing on what impact people at a launch console at all. That's why you have two of the few sony launch, and exclusive games that are not really the one who will convince people when they see them in store's front.

Drive Club, beyond its technical problems, is nothing impressive in the setting chosen.. A sad sad countryside with dull colors and not a lot of light.. It's the light direction that works most of the time in a game. Here you don't have any light play on the distant trees, nothing to make people dream a little.

Is there a good video to watch for NFS Rivals to show it off? Maybe I just haven't seen enough of it but it just didn't look all that amazing. I ask because you're not the only one to say that.

I hate that racing games insist on having trees overhanging tracks, but never have fucking leaves on the track from those trees.

Also, the constant backfiring in that video lets it down. Otherwise, looks pretty great.

seriously, sony fanyboys... FORZA will blow this game away...

jeez

and I will own both systems... why bother trying to argue with a dev that has 4 games in the bank that were awesome..

I feel that the interesting stuff they're doing with the game is undemoable really. That's what makes it look bland as shit.

Personally not interested in their "team racing" gimmick since it's quite overrated, but I like racing games enough to still follow the game. It just feels like the rest of the game isn't as ambitious, especially in the social framework they seem to be going for.

Yeah, I have no idea what people who say GT6 looks better are thinking. Don't get me wrong, GT6 looks good, but Forza 5 is easily the best looking racing game to date.

Neither Forza nor Driveclub are finished, but even as they are both look considerably better than GT6, as they should.

This game will be fine, maybe they showed it too early, but i remember the transformation motor storm 1 went through. It was pretty substantial.
