A Direct would allow them more control and avoid any potential tumbleweed moments if a live crowd didn't know what the fuck it was. But if a live crowd did "get it" and and a massive cheer erupted, they would lose that moment.

I want Nintendo World 2016, but it's far too late to be announcing that. Those are usually announced around June/July.

I think it will be a Digital Event to unveil the console, name it, release date etc and later a streamed hands-on press/public event in their world store or something, with playable games, treehouse members showing us the concept of the console and what have you. This is where they'll showcase the launch lineup. I'm thinking something akin to their e3 offering, just with "NX +launch games" being the focus instead of Zelda :)

I think this is the most likely format, doubled with private events for showing it to the press in NA and Europe.

I don't see them doing a live event since there will be no live audience... If they go with a digital event, I'd expect the same for the those presentation... See the videos they have on eshop to promote games like Yoshi's island woolly world.

I haven't even considered a Treehouse Live after the reveal.

That would be most preferred!

At this point they could announce it from the moon and I wouldn't care. I just want them to announce something!

Drove past Nintendo HQ in Kyoto on a coach trip today and got dem NX feels. I was probably a few hundred feet away from what in my imagination was a cavalcade of exciting games being readied for launch.

It'll inevitably happen anyway. The thread is nearly 60 pages long despite there not being any follow ups on the rumor and everything that can be said has been said in endless repetition. The only thing that's left is the descent into the spamland crazyness followed by Modbot's lock. There's no other way this thread can go without further news/rumors since there's just not anything else to talk about.

btw, it is the destiny of such threads to be locked. there is no additional news compared to what initially was a rumor by twitter about rumors heard with possible specs of old prototypes...I mean...

It's usually not Simpsons jokes from what I see.

I think it's when I see people going, "When is Nintendo going to reveal the NX!?", "I'm so thirsty", "Reveal the NX now Nintendo!" etc

Repeatedly for two pages or so.

I can't wait until the reveal happens and I'm constantly refreshing like 10 open tabs for the Reveal Thread, Smash Bros. HD Thread, BotW NX, and all of the other crazy titles to be announced! As for the rumors, I do trust Emily and I think she's smart to include the fact that it was indeed a prototype she saw. I do find this interesting, however. I wonder if it was seen during the prototyping, or maybe it was a prototype dev kit? I feel like leaks usually happen on the production line of the final product, so this is a pretty neat twist.

Exept it will be called "Smash for NX", and have additional content and better graphics. Would 4k be a pipedream if there are no other improvements than resolution? Probably.

At least NX is March 2017, but Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem mobile games release this year and we don't know anything either.

It's more likely that Nintendo releases an home version of the nx than a random dock that would probably be to expensive to sell it individually anyway.
