So Ultra Moon and Ultra Sun aren't sequels but just versions with an alternate story? That's disappointing. If it had been Sun/Moon 2 I would have picked it up even if it was only on 3DS. But I'll skip it if it's more or less the same game.

This is what made it even more disappointing. The games we are getting seem like just a story reskin.

I'd rather them skip Ultra in general if it means they could put all of that manpower onto the next real version of Poke.

I don't get it? Everything that was announced was to be expected. Black/white 2 were completely different games to the first. So why is everybody thinking this will be a port? Also nintendo said they would continue to support the 3ds which looks like is happening.

Listen, I'm disappointed as well, I was hoping for a Switch announcement as well, though I'm basing my speculation on what I saw today, the current environment surrounding the Switch and for the sake of conversation. Trends can always change, my friend. Being that the Switch is also a home console, we'd need the trend to change of no Pokemon mainline games on consoles as well, even if the Switch does have a portable mode, it may not end up being the true portable 3DS successor. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

IMO, there's nothing in the Pokémon Direct that contradicts the Eurogamer rumor.

Publishing games from last year on the 3DS with a different story? And VC console games on the 3DS? It's very far from a new mainline game for the 3DS platform. This whole Pokémon Direct was just about releasing old software with a new coat of paint.

This is TPC and X/Y were also announced before E3. Nintendo rules don't work for Pokemon.

Yes. This 8 minute long presentation once and for all proved that there will NEVER be a mainline Pokémon game on Nintendo's newest system. Because that makes sense.

To play devil's sad advocate, Black 2 and White 2 came out like 17 months after the 3DS, so there's precedent for this.

That's a Nintendo EAD/EPD franchise. They've already dropped the 3DS as of last year and are currently only working on Switch and mobile.
