Another good thing about the game is that those third person takedown moments aren't even all that common, throughout 3-4 hours of gameplay, I encountered it only once, and it was because it was the first takedown of the game.

Cool.
Getting pretty good performance here, averaging 60FPS at 1080/Ultra.
The odd drop to 40, highs of 80ish.
Win 10,
3770k @ 4.1ghz
GTX 780, 364.72 drivers.
16GB RAM
Installed it on an HDD, not a SSD

Win 7
3770k@4.4
7970 3GB Ghz
16GB RAM
HDD

and suboptimal performance. I am in the ~25-60cap range
Playing on low everything at 1080 to have more fun, less stress.

Also have lighting bugs - sometimes many textures are black OR white or the lights start to play LSD games.

Beat all main missions and side missions in like 2/3 hours or so. Did a few time trials (don't really like racing so not a big point for me) and took out some towers. I thought this was a DICE game but it seems like they took a a bit from Ubisoft for this. Shit ton of collectables and towers to take out. Could do without that.

Also hopefully in the final release there is a way to turn of user created content points in the world. I turned them off on the map but they still appear in the world. Maybe I missed something to turn it off though.

Really liking the story and gameplay of it. Gonna wait till it's cheap and reviews of the final copies are out atm though.

Good game, but...

I apparently got softlocked. I jumped off a building into whatever place this screenshot shows, instead of dying.

Those people there are literally just walking around inside that enclosed area and there's no way for me to get out. The save function implemented here always loads me inside here.

No choice but to restart from the beginning I guess?

Tried teleporting to a time trial on your map?

I was never a huge fan of the first one although i did understand its appeal with the free running and everything. It's the same with the beta for me, I got bored pretty quickly. Graphically a mixed bag. Cutscenes look fine with nicely detailed characters but during gameplay i really don't find it all that impressive. It's nice that jaggies are not very visible but damn it does look blurry and uncrisp at times too. And even though it's 60fps i still notice some blurring when i look around, it's not smooth like Halo 5 or PVZ2 in that way.

There was this part with lots of buildings in the background and it just looked bad and bland really. So i am not too impressed overall. I'll give it another go tomorrow.

Xbox One version by the way. It's stuff like this that really makes me wish we had the new consoles already, if MS has one in the making of course. So clearly sub HD.

About the time the demo takes, I spent 7 hours according to Origin. If you like running around and doing time trials and stuff it can take quite a while. :p

The motion blur is pretty horrible, it's on EVERYTHING. Even slow moving things.
Thankfully it can be turned off (which may even give a performance boost).

Why did I fail a mission for not fighting guards?
Some missions are flat out "kill (or knock out if you want to feel better) all the guards". Presumably some are combat tutorial missions so you learn how to do it, but it's still a little annoying. Not the end of the world to me even though I'd prefer it otherwise.

So......I spent all night downloading this for PC and it won't even fucking boot on 362.00 drivers? It's demanding 364.51 or higher, which happens to be completely botched and unusable on my PC. Last time I tried to install them it broke Vsync and locked my computer up. So what now? Skip the game all together since EA locked it behind certain drivers?
Was 364.72 broken on your computer, or only 364.51? 364.72 installed without issues on Windows 7 and ran Mirror's Edge Catalyst on a 2GB GTX 770 fine for me.

What sorta performance are people getting on the PC version? I'm getting really low FPS on anything higher than low and even then I'm getting severe drops 90% of the time.

i7 2600k, 8GB RAM and a GTX 970. Some comparisons:
I was getting in the 40s with mostly low/off, lighting medium, textures ultra, models high? Something like that.

Windows 7, GTX 770 2GB, 4.2 GHz i5 3570k, 8GB RAM. I do want to upgrade to 16GB since that seemed like a big problem. I'm guessing a lot of the open world gets loaded into memory.

Not too keen on the fact that repeated coil jumps are faster than simply sprinting, meaning every time trial is led by people bouncing around like rabbits. Surely it shouldn't be this way?
Looks that way, you'd think DICE would have checked that. :p

Time trials don't show up on my map.

The map legend has it greyed out, and I can't tick the box.
Try teleporting to the safehouse or Birdman dash if you haven't unlocked time trials yet? If you haven't unlocked time trials at least you may be sorta early. :(

Definitely. Those red marks everywhere are annoying.

If you play offline they're gone. Hopefully the final game has an option to toggle. I like them, but with lots of players they'd be everywhere.

Can someone(s) help me test two things?
  1. Someone WITHOUT skill roll unlocked, try running, sliding, and then pressing right click while sliding forwards. Do you roll out?
  2. Someone with Beat LE's unlocked in NA, check the safehouse room over the disruptable fan. It's the room with the high, thin ledge. Do you see a Beat LE up there? No one has found my point, according to the servers.

Sweet got the email today, I'll give it a go soon - hopefully playing offline is okay because my internet is shambolic.

PM me if you want a PS4 code!

Edit: Taken

No luck.

Teleporting to the safehouse is locked and teleporting to the Birdman dash only allows me to do the run, and then returns me back to the same place.

I'll go ahead and report this to the devs.

Does anyone know how many main and side missions are in the beta? I've played a few hours now and I've still got missions. Didn't want to burn myself out before the full game comes out but if they're still throwing them at me I'll keep doing them.

This game dope. I love how you start to notice pathways through the game world even without the runner vision/shadow.

It could do with some more pathways and intricacies, but it's pretty good as is.

Remapping controls will be a must though

I just had solid one hour of the game on PS4. Framerate issues have already been talked about. Other than that it's more Mirror's Edge and I am sold.

I do wish I could check the beta out on my PC.

Ok so Beta download and playing now. The first thing it makes me remember is how much I loved the 1st game and after only playing this for 20 mins, I already know this is a day 1 buy.

Correcting myself earlier, my safehouse Beat LE should be in the big open room above the fan you can disrupt. It still doesn't show anyone as having touched it.

I messed around with the beta for about 1hr45 tonight, and I'm pretty happy with what I played. I found combat to be a little clumsy, but that's down to me being crap rather than anything on the game's end, and at least combat feels far better than the first game.

I couldn't settle on a runner vision mode that I liked; the choices felt like either too much help or too little.

If I load up the beta again this weekend, will it start me from the beginning again or will it preserve the progress I've made so far?

Well, this is better than expected! And I certainly didn't expect it to be 60fps on consoles. I got used to sub HD in no time (PS4 ver), kinda like with BF4. It looks a lot like BF4 in fact.

I hope there will be a full HD Neo patch ;)

It's really easy to complain about sequels, so here I go!

- must unlock basic skills
- open world means going through the same areas over and over
- loading times are abysmal
- too many stupid fucking collectibles and shit
- too much text & menus

reminds me of this

Might be dumb to ask, since you might have tried it, but did you cancel out of the time trial? Finishing time trials last night warped me back to where I was when I decided to start that time trial but cancelling out of the race left me where I was.

Played through all the missions and messed around in the world a bit doing side stuff, and I really like what I've played so far. I was incredibly skeptical, but now I'm pleasantly surprised that they seem to be pulling it off. It's not without its problems, but it seems like a worthwhile sequel.

Played through the main missions and most of the side missions and sold. I liked the first game but not enough to replay it, and this one feels and plays better. Only one crash in testing and a couple of times I saw a noticeable drop in framerate both in cutscenes (for me to notice it had to be in the teens) but only for a few seconds. The VA and characters look great.

In my 3-4 hours of playing only saw three of the third person takedowns, not sure if its as intended or I didn't do some kind of finisher, either way didn't mind them. Almost all my deaths were fall related. Looks like they took some cues from Dying Light on first person climbing/jumping, seemed very smooth. Combat was fun after I got the hang of it, in first person was getting beatdown from behind cause I was too busy swinging the camera around, but got use to that as well.

As mentioned by someone else, I hope the option to turn off social stuff is included, was getting annoying. BUT I was disconnected I'd say half the time from the server so didn't see those as much...not sure of the impact to playing but didn't bug me I was offline.

Finished all the missions and had a blast. I'm slightly worried though because it said I'm 28% through the main story in my 3 hours of playing with a lot of that being devoted to side missions and random open world events. That would be a crazy short story mode again.

Considering this is a beta thread, if you've got issues that you want to report, here are the official forums where the devs are reading and checking for specific instances like where exactly your framerate drops, etc:

https://forums.mirrorsedge.com/categories/closed-beta-feedback

Could be in the OP.

Yep good idea - should be there, went to my email to get the address just to see what others were saying on the ME forums.

Saw this on the ME forums, looks like there are 40 missions and we completed 3-4. I guess/hope it was just beta math..

Looks like a lot of people (including me) are experiencing a memory leak during gameplay. I thought it had something to do with my GPU (970) but I've seen people with an overclocked 980ti having the same issue. The game runs fine for about 15 minutes and then it all of a sudden starts to stutter like crazy with major frame drops (not to mention that my HDD starts acting up like crazy). I was going to pre order this game since I really loved the first one. But The beta changed that decision, I'm going to wait and see if the same problem is going to be present in the final release.

Well just finished the Beta on PC.

Game is pretty rough still, the textures are low quaility of course.
I really like the music by Solarfields, adds to the mood.
I do not mind the leveling system in this one, I hope we get more skills later.
The 4 story missions were nice, but still the story bit is pretty vague what the purpose is, only that Faith lost her Sister Cat(hrine).
That Kruger is the bad one and Faith and Cats father were killed by Kruger.
The cutscenes were stuttering for me too.
Even with VSYNC enabled it was still tearing, well the build is almost 1 month old.
Hope they will tweak it till June.

My system is:
Windows 10 Pro
Intel i5-4670@3.40 Ghz
MSI 960 GTX 4 GB VRAM
16 GB DDR3 RAM
Z87-G45 Mainboard by MSI

It is a bit stupid but if you want to know whole story before game starts you need to read Mirrors Edge Exordium comic that explains few things before Faith went to
prison
.

Reminds of Tomorrowland movie...it was so confusing until you read the book "Before Tomorrowland"

except no one knew about that book at all.

Thanks for the heads up.

So in the last hour or so, I was trying to figure out why I was getting some shuttering and such. I know I have some limitations with a GTX 950 2GB primarily along with a i5 4460 and 8GB, but after running Rise of the Tomb Raider perfectly with a mostly high settings with some medium stuff (like for texture setting), I was amazed that I was getting some issues even on low setting.

I didn't bother with custom setting till recently, so well there I went to see what I can adjust, and I think the issue is the blur, least on my end. I went to turn it off, and now I been running with medium settings otherwise with a couple high settings put in, and seems like the shuttering went away for the most part as I went around doing open world and a couple side missions.

Anyway despite some performance issues and still not too crazy for certain aspects, like the upgrade system (which is not that much of a deal at this point), this game has been pretty fun. Combat is bleh, but movement and platforming feels pretty nicely done like in the original.

So, on PS4

-It's good to be able to widen the FOV on console
-The 5 lines of Beta build etc. running all over your screen are ANNOYING and useless
-I won't judge the textures etc. but the lighting direction is pretty bad, doesn't look at all next-gen.
-loading times
-Don't look down or you'll see a PS2-animated city
-Why did they put fucking buildings where Faith fall immediately ??
-Sound design has nothing special, except when you fall/die
-Seriously, the "Kruger Sec" CEO who makes speeches in front of the camera to give "employee rules" on TV? The universe feels so fake.
-Which lead me to the characters, coming from a bad TV show with a standard storytelling structure.
-Tutorials could have been better handled.
-loading times
-The "open world" (or open areas) structure needs to prove why it's here. I'm not convinced yet (dead end, closed doors, lack of things to do, no random events, it's not a living area...)

I'm getting sucked into the time trial vortex...

Got top 2% on this one, no clue how the hell the number 1 guy shaved 3 more seconds off it though. Can't really make a bigger post right now but I've been really enjoying this.

I get horrible stutter with a GTX970.

Get bouts of stutter as well. The majority of the stutter comes by way of cutscenes. I'm gonna guess they're stuttering because the game is loading assets pertaining to the mission ahead, I guess. Did notice some shadows glitching about during the
intro talk with Icarus before the Elysium Labs break in
, but zooming the camera FOV all the way in fixed that. Also noticed a bit of Icarus' model glitching during the Combat Mod training.

Getting some fairly consistent stutter later into the game. And the cutscenes are a slideshow. Iffy but I'll wait for the final release before really making any judgment.

The gameplay itself feels great but honestly one thing I was not expecting to hate was all the collectibles and leveling up and shit. It feels like that image I saw the other day of the ridiculous HUD in Bloodborne. It just all feels so unnecessary and bloated.
